Just happens to be the largest city in Kentucky...and unfortunately the home base of Mitch McConnell.

Lexington was Fayette County.
Louisville took the same direction and the city/county governments merged not too long ago. Louisville was bigger in population in the state as a community but not within defined "city limits."
On the bright side, we have a former 3-term Democratic Mayor serving as our current Mayor for probably another 3 terms because the rules changed and he's willing to work with anyone to get the job done.
Then again, we "still" elect Mitch McConnell....
