Tailgater and stop dead in the merge lane.

Traffic is busy enough around here that when the guy ahead of me merges into 70 mph traffic at 40 mph, the tailgater behind me gets impatient and cuts around both of us. The way these bush-holes do it, they make the guy ahead of me even MORE freaked out, making the situation worse.

Basically, it's a no-win sutuation. Either I cut off slowpoke ahead of me, or I merge early to create a hole in traffic for slowpoke, or I get cut off by jerk behind me, and wind up acting as bumper protection for Mr. slowpoke anyway.

It's enough to make me want to move to a remote area in N. Dakota. :)

here in chicago, there are a lot of one way streets, including most residential streets, and it fries my bean when the morans who are turning left drift to the right side of the street to do so.

ALSO-

we have the "right turn on red" rule, which most morans don't seem to realize also means that you are allowed to turn LEFT on red when turning from the left lane of a one way street onto another one way street...cheneying morans.

from someone who used to drive a truck.

Cars = light weight Trucks = heavy weight. It takes much longer for a truck to stop than a car. If you're in traffic, and you cut off a truck, the driver may not be able to get stopped in time. I know there are assholes who run right up on your bumper, but even then you're better off letting the jerk by than keeping him back there.

The left lane is for passing. If people are passing you in the right lane you really should move over to the proper lane. The fact that you are driving an expensive car or a "assault SUV" does not entitle you to passing lane privileges not afforded us common folk. A cell phone stuck to your head is also a poor excuse for not letting others pass you. I don't make you wait for me- show some courtesy.
