I'll admit it - I like "wuss rock" |
|
Somebody (Screaming Lord Byron?) recently described the music I like as "wuss rock", which I was ashamed to admit is pretty accurate. Crowded House, Aztec Camera, Coldplay, Travis, etc... they would all fall into this catagory.
I have decided to accept this side of myself and even be proud of it. So what if I like well-written songs with pretty little melodies and catchy hooks? There's nothing to be ashamed of about it! I think it proves that I'm a sensitive, intellectual, perceptive man. And a world-class wuss.
I LISTEN TO "WUSS ROCK" AND I'M PROUD OF IT!

1. SLB knows he loves it. |
|
I like wuss rock I suppose. No Coldplay, but I do enjoy Neil Finn. I think early REM qualifies as well.
Course, I like shoegazer pop, so what the hell do I know?

3. I'm very dissapointed I didn't get to see the Lillith Fair |
|
I like a lot of women folk and rock singers. That's even more wussy than wuss rock I guess, but I think that music has more depth and quality than the bands you're talking about. Just my opinion. I jump from Jewel to Rage Against the Machine but I'm not a big fan of pop-rock.

7. "Depth and quality" is in the eye of the beholder, I guess. |
|
You'll realize this when you come to accept your inner wuss.

4. You call yourself "Finnfan" and you like Crowded House?? |
|
Never would have seen that one coming. Now you can really shock these folks and tell them you like Split Enz too.
Just as long as you don't listen to Bryan Adams, Michael Bolton, or Sammy Hagar

8. Anything that Neil Finn touches turns to gold............. |

I love Crowded House and Neil Finn's solo releases. So, I like "wussrock" too as I listen to Sonic Youth "Sister."

12. There's a new Finn Brothers CD coming in August |
|
Early reviews have been excellent, and the first single, "Won't Give In", is brilliant.

10. What's the difference between butt rock and wuss rock? |
|
Surely someone who throws around the term "wuss rock," so casually, must know what butt rock is?
And is there a "wuss rock" distinction between, say, Built to Spill and Maroon 5?

11. Well, I just heard the term "wuss rock" for the first time this week |
|
I thought it actually fit the kind of music I like very well. I've been laughing about it all week.
As for Built to Spill and Maroon 5, I don't think that they wear their hearts on their sleeves enough to be considered "wuss rock."
So what is butt rock?

14. You should check out the band Aloha. |
|
They're wuss-rock that even the most frighteningly serious music-heads can dig. It might bolster whatever remains of your cred. Plus they rule.

15. I don't have any idea what "Wuss Rock is" |
|
I never heard of any of these bands.
I don't know whether I should be proud or ashamed of that.
