My future sis-in-law is an Olympic semi-finalist!
I've been telling everyone I know, so I thought I'd post it here, too. Forgive the vanity post :).

Her name is Shauna Smith, and she's in tonight's semi-final heat (5:30 west coast time) for the 400m hurdles. She's a great lady, who has overcome quite a bit to get to this point. (She's also a liberal :)) So if you happen to catch any track and field tonight, cheer her on :7

4. here's hoping
She's still a bit of a long shot to make the team for Greece, but she's in the finals now, and anything can happen :)

5. She is in the finals now
Just as an update, she made the finals tomorrow and will be running at 4:14 California time. She's still got an uphill climb, b/c she has to finish in the top three to qualify, and four of the ladies in the semis turned in times better than her personal best. But even so, you never know what can happen.

And since she's only 20, she's still well before her prime. :7

Whatever happens tomorrow, I'm just thrilled for her to have made it this far. :bounce:
