I doubt it my mom and step-dad will have much left. I hope they enjoy what they have and use it to take care of themselves. Whatever is left, will be split 6 ways. I already have the things I most treasure, my dad's old family pictures.

2. I have about $40,000 coming later this summer... |
|
And I'm gonna piss it all away;
$15,000 to pay taxes $3500 to fix the roof $8000 to pay off credit cards $12,000 to pay off the car
Yep. Pretty well pissed away, wouldn't you say?

And what I didn't invest in tools, a decent lawyer, reliable transportation, a new computer, glasses, dental work and a roof over my head....
There wasn't that much left to "piss away...."

83 Yrs Old WWII vet Blind In a wheel chair Parkinson's and the government is trying to take everything he had and leave him with $6000 a year. $3000 to bury him. That leaves $3000 for everything else for a year.
What a country, huh?

20. The Same Thing Almost Happened To My Aunt |
|
What it made it "easier" is that my uncle suffered a massive stroke at his retirement party the day before he turned 65 and my Cousin was the "Junior."
It took a few years before the Feds finally figured out the difference but "he" was covered, she is too and still retains the Farm "they" built in the Thirties.

...twenty years or so from now (at least a while, I hope!), to pay off my CC and then go to school at Full Sail or Collins or the Chicago Art Institute and learn computer animation. :)
I should still have enough left over to house myself the whole time. Too bad it's not taught anywhere in Michigan, though... I could live in her house while I did it, which I've already expressed an interest to her in having after she's gone.
(She's ok with all of this. Considering my past history with her, that's a bit... odd.)

13. My step-father is in a nursing home |
|
and that is eating up a lot of his income. My mother has fallen while at home, and is considering moving to one of those communities where she can have help if and when she needs it. She cried on the phone to me today, saying there would soon be none of their savings left, and none for the kids. I said, "Be glad you have the funds to take care of yourselves now. That's what you saved for, and you know you won't be out on the streets. And that's all that matters."
And you know, that's really the truth. I have a poverty-level job, a husband in ill health, a house with plastic for walls, but I'm not out on the streets. I have the fellowship of my fellow Sufis, a great holistic doctor, and faith that Kerry will be elected President and help us all with healthcare and decent jobs.

14. Doubt there will be enough to piss away |
|
Edited on Sat Jul-10-04 03:30 PM by Momgonepostal
My mom has a small life insurance policy that should be enough to pay her funeral expenses and pay off her credit card.
She is currently looking into getting a reserve mortgage on her house, so depending on how long she lives, my sister and I will inherit a heavily mortgaged home.
I'm not expecting any great windfall.

My partner's parents are very well off and my step mom is a well, we'll need the money for our own retirement.
My mom and step dad are comfortable and I hope will live a LONG life. My step-mom is in her 50's and hope to have her around for a LONG time as well. Michael's parents are in their 80's and have some health problems, but are feisty and full of life.
So, I don't think we will be getting some $$$ soon. When we do, it's going to be our nest egg for our old age.
Since we don't have kids ....... we're gonna work that $$$!!

19. My siblings and I signed ours away years ago |
|
Edited on Sat Jul-10-04 03:52 PM by Solly Mack
We have a younger half-sister who is mentally challenged and will need long term care the rest of her life. She will need that money more than we will. We share the same father and he asked us if we objected to his course of action. We did not.
If my sister dies before the rest of us do, then we will receive the balance. Currently my father acts as watchdog to my sister's lawyers. That job will pass to us once he dies.
She's in a private group home.
We aren't talking a huge estate but we are talking about a man busted for insider trading with Eastern Airlines, and who only got a fine. This was years ago.
Yes, he's a republican.

My father was a union printer whose lifestyle was destroyed by the Reagan administration. He's retired, living off social security and what's left of his union won pension.
There's no inheritance other than his old hunting rifles and books.

My Mom is doing fine, and I have no clue as to here financial situation. My wifes folks are just getting by with his retirement and S.S. So, no, I wont be pissing away what I won't have. Which is not really a problem as I have a job and the wife is working too. We get by.

poor. If we hadn't lived in the boonies on a farm where we ate well, and had some rich relatives who gave us really nice hand-me-downs, we would have been super skinny and ragged.
Then agin money ain't everything. It don't make the world go round... It just greases the ball bearing on which the world rolls around.

30. Mom passed away a few years ago. |
|
Her last year was very hard; there was enough money to see she got got good care. I wasn't the executor & a crooked lawyer was hired, so nothing was left of the estate. Maybe the house could have been saved, but it was out of my hands. Doesn't really matter.
My father died many years ago. I've got the flag he wore to his wake.
