Marvel exists in a universe that, for all of it's fantasy, is much more realistically written. They've got guys in New York and LA and Westchester. Not Gotham City and Metropolis.
They cannot make enough Marvel movies. Actually they should make less "Ghost Rider" and "Hulk's" and "Electra's". And concentrate on Churning out their tried and true franchises of X-men, Spider-man, and now, Fantastic Four.
Once again, DC is just crappy in comparison. They made 4 Batman movies of continually increasing crappiness with 4 different actors and 2 different 2-faces and nobody even cared that much because the continuity was so meaningless. It was all about being "larger than life" and just wierd.
Bring on X3, spidey 3, and the fantatic four.

15. Yes, but Vertigo Comics ROCKS! |
|
I'm waiting for the movie "Preacher" or a series of movies called "Sandman".
P.S. I am reading Neil Gaiman's novel "American Gods" and it is incredible.

Marvel recently made a deal for several of their B-list characters. The films may be shot for straight-to-video. I think they're waiting to see how the new Man-Thing movie does before they figure out whether or not the films will be released in theaters.
But remember, Blade was always considered a B-list character until the films came out.
Me? I'd like to see an accurate Alan Moore-ish Swamp Thing , but the earlier movies and TV series has probably ruined all chances of that happening. A Giaman directed Sandman or Death would be great too.
OH, as a side note, there will be three new DC animated shows this fall. One of which, amazingly enough, is Krypto.
I'm cringing at seeing the Americanized Hellblazer this fall.

17. What about a film version of "the Watchmen"... |
|
I'd love to see a version of this directed by someone like Tim Burton, Darren Aronofsky, Danny Boyle, Wim Wenders...
Woot that would be great.

18. The only way you could do any justice to The Watchmen |
|
Edited on Sun Jul-11-04 10:47 AM by khephra
Would be to follow the KILL BILL path with a Watchmen vol 1 and vol 2. Anything less and it will disappoint every fan of the series. There's just too much in there for even a 3 hour movie.
I think everyone will agree that the Pirate material won't fit in a film. I can't see how those segments could work without confusing and boring a modern, non-comic reading audience.
An updated version of V FOR VENDETTA would probably be easier to do, but I doubt any studio would get behind it in the post-9/11 world unless it was UK produced.
(I don't think Thatcher-based politics would resonate that much with modern audiences, but you could do some nasty Bush related material with an update. In fact, on a recent re-read, I was struck by how similar one character was to Ashcroft.)
