Saturday Night DU Insomniacs Thread
Edited on Sun Jul-11-04 12:06 AM by Angelus
Hey guys. I'm checking in at 12:00 AM CST. Today, I got a phone call from the manager of Taco Bell. She told me I got the job. That was sweet news. I don't know if I'll take it yet because I'd have to work from 7pm until 3am. I have to drive an hour there and an hour back. I'm not too keen about that. I'll decide by Monday (which is the day of my orientation) if I'll work there or not.

Also today, I went to the car show in my old town. It was fun. There were a lot of sweet classic cars from the 50's, 60's, and the 70's. My favorite was the 56 Chevy. Nice car it is. There were also a lot of hot chicks. I was happy. I got the phone number from one of them. :)

Anyways, how was your day?

1. Took the little one (3 y/o) up to Grandma's...
She was pretty good. Coolest thing she did: Grandma asked her the same question three times and she gave a different answer every time, each answer very creative and almost poetic, but a total non sequitur. That's my girl!

As long as the traffic doesn't completely suck in your area, and if the people don't appear to be comlete losers, I'd say do the job a couple of weeks and see how it is, esp. if you've got nothing else going. At least you'll have your afternoons free for job interviews.

I worked as a cashier at Rite Aid in college, and some of the experiences I wouldn't have missed for anything.

Basically I stayed home alone all day while my mom was getting her hair done in Anaheim and played with my dog. At one point I heard my neighbor blasting this awful rap crap I decided it was war, and in turn blasted my southern rock. What I forgot was that our other neighbor has a two year old, so I guess they came over (damnit and the gate wasn't locked!) and rang the doorbell. I suppose if I had had it locked they would've called the police (which doesn't make sense because my other neighbor's music was louder than mine). I didn't answer it but I freaked out and drew all the shades closed and locked all windows and doors, and locked the gate. Then when my parents finally got home we had another chaotic dinner except we had vietnamese which made it slightly better. I also argued with my mom about my joining of the Young Democrats, and told her I wanted to join the local Baptist congregation, which she told me was "bat-fucking insane", but she liked it better than the idea of paying for me to go to a therapist. Ya, my family has problems. Now that I'm reading Bill Clinton's book, I can see how freakishly eerie it is that our lives are such parallels.

3. Wow...what an eventful day.
So your neighbors never did talk to you about your music, eh?

Have no worries. My family has more problems than a college-level Calculus book. 100 years to a psychiatrist couldn't cure what's wrong with them.

Hang in there. It'll get better.

No, they didn't, thank god. If they had done something (and I must testify again that my other neighbor's was ten times louder because his stereo is like ten times bigger and more expensive than mine), and perhaps the police would have shown up, my parents might get in serious trouble for leaving a techincal minor (14) without supervision home alone.

13. Just listening to some old New Order and getting tired (finally)
Getting close to 1:00 a.m., and I actually am starting to feel sleepy. So, with any luck, I should be dozing away in an hour. I put the finishing touches on my Michael Moore column. I hope everyone else gets some sleep!
