Glen Campbell July 2004 mug shot from Smoking Gun
"Country singer Glen Campbell was arrested in November 2003 on drunk driving and hit and run charges. According to Arizona cops, the 67-year-old performer was nabbed shortly after plowing his BMW into another auto at a Phoenix intersection. He left the accident scene, but was arrested at his nearby home, where cops smelled booze on his breath and noted that Campbell looked smashed. After he was booked into a Maricopa County lockup, Campbell kneed a sergeant in the thigh--for which the country star was hit with an aggravated assault on a police officer charge. Campbell posed for the bottom mug shot in July 2004 after checking into a Phoenix lockup to serve the first of ten nights in jail. The singer, now 68, pleaded guilty in May to extreme DUI and leaving the scene of an accident."

1. A couple of things
First, that is one of the scariest DUI photos ever!

What the hell is "extreme DUI"? Do you get penalized more for blowing a .30 than a .08? Is it a sliding scale like speeding tickets?

2. That's one mean looking S.O.B.
I'd rank him right up there with Cheney.

8. That's what smoking pot will do to you...
...and drinking all that booze didn't help either.

9. Pot, hell!
I had a friend who drove a tour bus for Tanya Tucker, for a long time. She and Campbell were an item. He said Campbell always had a mason jar full of The Devil's Dandruff, of which they both partook freely.

10. From Delight, Arkansas
He used to pronounce DEE-light on his short-lived Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour on CBS 35 years ago. Looks like Glen's good times may be over for good, to paraphrase a more talented country singer named Merle Haggard.

When he was around 42, he started dating Tanya Tucker, who was around 19. He later admitted it was a mistake and that trying to keep up with her 'life in the fast lane' ways (I think he meant the wicked combination of cocaine, alcohol and non-stop sex, although he could probably have handled just the latter) had nearly killed him.

Tanya Tucker is one rough-looking hombrette, too, these days, and she's only about 45.

18. Worked for Elvis, too,
at least in the 1963 "What'd I Say" from Viva Las Vegas, and possibly on other of his soundtracks recorded in Hollywood. Glen Campbell was an ace session player in the '60s, in LA, and played with just about everyone, it seems. I think I recall him saying, in an interview from the '80s, that he played bass on "Good Vibrations" (or maybe on other tracks) and had trouble reconciling that with singing the high Beach Boys harmonies.

I hope he snaps out of it.
