Poll question: Are you registered to vote?
Only because if I find out anyone from DU who is capable of voting in our country ISN't registered

It's my biggest pet peeve!

2. For those of you not registered:
Contact your local library. And if Georgie's budget cuts have closed your local library, contact your nearest chapter of the League of Women Voters (you don't need to be a chick) who will happily help you find a location to register for the vote.

3. ever since my senior year of HS
Our gov't teacher in 12th grade brought us voter registration forms and had us fill them out in the library. We were eligible to register as long as we would be 18 within 30 days of Election Day. This was in the spring, so I was still 17, but not for much longer.

I have never missed a major election, and very very few minor ones. It is a pet cause.

I arrived in AZ on the first of this month, and registered within 3 days. I always stay current, no matter where I live.

7. Proudly registered as a Republican, so I can vote against
more of them in their primaries. Democrats rarely have primaries on Long Island.

9. brief repub fling
When I turned 18 I registered democrat. the following electionI registered repug so I could vote against reagan in his first primary. it didn't work. stayed repug long enough to keep mike curb from running for governor. that time it worked. The day after that primary I returned to the fold. my parents have never let me forget my "little stunt". Haven't missed a vote since I turned 18.

18. For me it has been 20 years now. I got to vote against
Al D'Amato and Pataki more times.
I also get all the good mailings from the GOP, so I can see what they are up to.

The downside is that I get little response from my Congresscritters who are Dems, cause they look me up.

10. Registered in 1982
And have only missed the 1990 primary and 2002 elections, both for the same reason: Ship was scheduled to be in port, and pulled out on election day.

11. My Union registered me
when I started working in the factory I work in our Union told us how important it is for us to vote and registered us all to vote. I think this is a great idea, now if people would bhother to show up to vote we would probably not have all these repugs in office so we would still have good jobs.

13. Simmer down. I registered in 1976.
Believe it or not, I was able to register before turning 18, because I would turn 18 before the election. Before going off to university, I went over to the county seat and signed up. It was one of the easiest things I've ever done.

15. That's still the case.
At least here in Maine. As long as your 18th birthday is before the election you can register.

24. I'm doing that in Delaware
I never realized you had to be deputized. Last time I did mass-scale registering was 92 in PA. You just needed to be capable of handing stuff out and gathering it back. And making sure you could get a pen back when you're done.

DE deputizes!

23. I had a friend in college who was a registered communist.
He was a Vietnamese/Polish mutt, go figure. Think he went for the shock value because he loved showing off his voter's reg card. Nice guy, though.
