Poll question: Coolest state, not counting your own, is...? |
|
Edited on Mon Jul-12-04 06:34 PM by Bucky
What state is the coolest state in the union? To depress any chauvanism, you can't vote for a state in which you currently live or were born in. Obviously I'll accept write-ins, but I've taken the liberty of listing the only right choices.
(NB: because they failed to garner any vote atall, I'm deferring to the crown and substituting late entrants Oklahoma and Minnesota in lieu of Wyoming and Texas. Sorry 'bout that, Willie. Sorry 'bout that, Jackson Hole.
Also, I've changed the incorrect term "jingoism" for the correct term "chauvanism" because words matter, dammit)

Visit the Teddy Bear factory and the IceCream place and you are pretty much done for cool factors. Hit Burlington and they didn't even have an anime store. I cannot stress how much a negative that is on coolness points.
Vermont is cool. Just not the coolest.

Texas is the only state I've ever visited that I wanted to leave the same day I got there. Austin doesn't count.

That has to be from people that live there.
When I finished my undergrad degree, I took a job in Rhode Island. The company I worked for just went through a mass hiring of new employees, mostly from out of state.
Within 2 years almost all of us had left. No one liked that state, in fact most despised it.

17. Florida and Hawaii are the only states that belong on the list |
|
Edited on Mon Jul-12-04 06:51 PM by Bombtrack
Living in Alaska or Oklahoma or Kentucky would be like living in another, much shittier, country. Sorry because I know that's bound to offend people who have no big choice in living in those places and I'm a complete jackass for not having been to any of them but I'm well read.
Top 10 coolest states that I'm not from(which is MA), aproximately. The only reason I don't include NY State higher is that only Long Island and the city are parts I'd ever want to live 1 California 2 Florida 3 Connecticut 4 Arizona 5 Hawaii 6 New York 7 Texas 8 New Jersey 9 North Carolina 10 Nevada

The coolest state is Louisiana but since we can't vote for states we've lived in or were born in, that lets out most of the southern states. What is left? Outside the south, they are either not cool at all or trying too hard.
Unless you mean temperature-wise. In which case, I'll let Maine, Minnesota, and Alaska fight it out.
Even Maxim magazine (not cool) recently voted Louisiana the coolest of the 50 states in its battle of the 50 states issue -- or did they send a different version of that rag to every state? Hmmm.

But of the states I've been to, Oregon is the big winner. The coast, the volcanoes, Crater Lake, the beer, everything. It's a great place, though I may not get back until the eclipse comes through.
