About 800 bicyclists die in the US every year

About 540,000 bicyclists visit emergency rooms with injuries every year. Of those, about 67,000 have head injuries.

Bicycle crashes and injuries are under reported, since the majority are not serious enough for emergency room visits.

1 in 8 of the cyclists with reported injuries has a brain injury.

Two-thirds of the deaths here are from traumatic brain injury.

A very high percentage of cyclists' brain injuries can be prevented by a helmet, estimated at anywhere from 45 to 88 per cent.

Many years of potential life are lost because about half of the deaths are children under 15 years old.

Direct costs of cyclists' injuries due to not using helmets are estimated at $81 million each year.

Indirect costs of cyclists' injuries due to not using helmets are estimated at $2.3 billion each year.

one of the funniest parts was when he called Kerry/Edwards Hanzel and Gretal. I know he sometimes makes fun at the dems, but that comes with getting great insight and truth. Also lets face it dems screw up, not a 850+ U.S soldiers or 10,000+ Iraqis dead screw up but nonetheless they screw up. And Jon was right to criticize dems for not standing up for what they believe in before the war. That has almost made me want to vote for Nader, but I agree with the dems too much and believe the best way to fix things is through the Democratic party.

That Jon NEVER claims to be Left or Right. He's Left leaning, but he keeps on playing the "we're in the middle and disgusted" card.

Jon represents the REAL (socially liberal) swing voter. That's why he's more effective than true partisans. Deal with the Kerry jokes. They'll never be as harsh as the anti-Bush ones.
