Anime Fans -- what NEWish Anime are you watching these days?

Ok, everyone and his brother has seen Eva, Trigun, Bebop, Dragon Ball, YuYu, etc...

What I want to know is this: what anime do you like that most people haven't heard of or seen?

I'll add mine after I see how this thread is doing.

1. I watched "Gunslinger Girls" the other day; Macross Zero was also cool

The first couple of episodes were pretty good. Haven't watched the rest yet.

Macross Zero was great just for the fact that it has Macross with 21st Century animation. Veritechs have never looked better!

I only heard about it this week. I still don't know what it is about.

3. Takes place during the Global Civil War

I'd hate to give too much away, but there's at least one returning character. It takes place on an island, the home of protoculture. Both sides in the GCW are looking for it, though of course one side is better than the others -- kind of a maturity in the series, in that one side isn't better than the other.

Y'know, it's kind of hard to describe.

I was told that both Nauto and Narutaro really, really sucked (to use technical terminology).

12. It's another version of "Journey to the East" (or is that "West"?)

The same source material as Dragonball and Monkey (the live-action show).

Like Dragonball, it has a LOT of fights, but, also like DB, people love it or hate it. I crack up every time I watch an episode. And yeah, it's going strong at over 100 episodes. I only have 76 of them, though.
