Used the "Thats like a chicken voting for Colonial Sanders" quote today

I had a black amateur radio operator call today inquiring about purchasing a piece of ham radio gear this morning. The equipment is heavy and fragile so we were trying to figure out meeting somewhere in between our homes to meet and make the exchange. He mentioned he was going to be in Philadelphia later this year so naturally I asked if he was going to the Democratic convention. He said hell no. He was a Republican. The next words out of my mouth were, damn man, thats kind of like a chicken voting for Colonial Sanders. Ain't it? The phone got real quiet for a while. He took it well and we ended up having a nice chat. I didn't tell him I would not sell any damn thing to a Republican though. I suspect he realized it.
