Ken Jennings has $46,000 going into Final Jeopardy!

Alex T. just said he'd be the 2nd person to hit $1 million. Who was the first? Was it during a Tournament of Champions?

3. I reckon..
as long as they keep giving him competitors who aren't very knowledgeable.

6. And letting Alex do his best to
Edited on Tue Jul-13-04 07:11 PM by ashling
intimidate the competitors AND to help Ken.

The other day on the category about the Kennedey's the answer was Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, but Kenny Boy got away with "Kathleen"
He tries that every time, and Alex only calls him on it sometimes.

I used to like the show, but it is getting a little one sided.

Remember $24,000 Question?

7. He's irritating, I'm sick of him
Edited on Tue Jul-13-04 07:21 PM by ironflange
I avoid Jeopardy now. Girl gone mad is right, the producers have been throwing him puffballs for quite some time now. Now that he's hit the million, I expect some tougher opponents to show up.

I figure there are any number of DUers that could beat him.

8. yeah & if i was 5' taLLer i'd be in the NBA
the guy's great at it. there's no need to knock him with 'quiz show' conspiracy theories.

9. I'm not saying that the fix is in
just that there are things in the guy's favor other than an incredible memory:

1) He has developed a rythm. Clicking in first is not easy, but once you get in the groove . . .

2) Alex starts the show by intimidating the crap out of the new contestants by telling them how KJ is all but unbeatable, and

3) Yes, he does get away with preferential treatment. The correct response the other day was "Kathleen Kennedy Townsend" He simply says "Kathleen" and gets it.

Anyway, it is getting annoying. No contest = No show.

10. obviousLy i disagree
that the show is bad now that ken has taken over.

as for the kathLeen answer, the category was kennedys. the answers were mostLy given as just their first names.

i've seen aLmost every episode he's been on and am rooting for him. onLy one contestant that i've seen has given him a hard chaLLenge.

as for the buzzer - that's his key. many times he buzzes in and has no cLue.

22. The answer immediately prior to his
was "Maria Shriver", which one of the new folks got. "Maria" would have been incorrect for that one, as "Kathleen" was for Ken's.

Alex lets him get away with stuff like that . . .

Now if he makes a huge donation to the effort to get rid of Slimeboy, exterminate Tom DeLay, make Hastert as HasBeen, and frisk Frist, then all is forgiven.

11. What Happened To The Five-Game Limit??
Edited on Wed Jul-14-04 07:57 AM by arwalden
And now that they don't retire champions, how will they accumulate enough champions to play in the "Tournament of Champions".

Will it become the "Tournament of Champion"?

12. They repealed the 5-game limit earlier this year.
Now you can come back as long as it takes.

16. 1996 and 2001?
I would tend to think the NYT didn't resort to really huge type until more recently... IIRC, even the JFK assassination was only something like 48 or 60-point?

1996- Clinton re-election
2001- September 11th attacks

That's my guess.
