Man Charged $7,244 For Phone Sex

BERLIN (Reuters) - A German man reported a female chat-line worker to police after facing a phone bill for $7,244 following an all-night flirt session with her.

The woman calling herself Tina rang the 28-year-old man on his mobile phone.

"She said she had found his number on the Internet and would really like to chat to him," a police spokesman in the westerly town of Wesel said on Wednesday.

She gave the man a number and asked him to ring her back, saying it would be a cheap rate. The pair then became locked in a six-hour conversation.

"The man said they talked about far more than just sex," the spokesman said.

11. Call-back scams

Telemarketing and unsolicited calls are illegal, but that doesn't help.

The trick is, that they call Cell Phones and give an international number that looks like a domestic call.

International is important, as German operators have to state the price-per-minute and are required to disconnect the caller after one hour.

His folks found him the next morning. He came home, made the call, and passed out. The other end was still on the line too. I forget how much they charged the family.
