Some DU trends that I have noticed.

I have noticed a few things over the last 2 weeks.

1. There are more posts going over 200 and even 300 than I remember.
2. There are a lot of really good new members and low post count people. I have been impressed with some of these people.
3. DU is becoming a lot more pro-gun.
4. There are "Sex Wars" raging in the lounge and I'm not sure why.

Has anyone else noticed this? Am I way off?

3. Well reasons number 1 & 2

Must be because it's an election year. That's why I'm here and new, I have to admit. I'm an election news junkie and I like being up to date and this is the best site I've found for that.

11. I think that the pro-gun thing springs from...

The fact that Democrats and progressives are a lot more diverse than we might give them credit for, and that linking pro-gun ownership views with the repukes, exclusively, is not fait accompli.

I know a lot of responsible gun owners and hunters, since I live out in the broccoli and have all my life. Guns, hunting and fishing are an inexhorable part of the fabric here. I know very, very few of them that are frothing death merchants with armories that would rival that of your average small nation. Most of them do look upon the self-styled, ad-hoc "Soldier of Fortune"-reading attempted death merchants with the fish eye and consider them to be best avoided. As unto The Plague. Many of them, being solidly working-class, have political views that can best be considered progressive. Many belong to unions.

It is always good to be careful about the width of your tar brush. Wayne LaPierre ain't the last word on jack.
