Courtney Love admitted to an 'institution'
Courtney Love has a legal guardian and is in an "institution"4

LOS ANGELES (AFP) - Embattled diva Courtney Love is a "troubled rock star" who now has a legal guardian and has been admitted to an "institution" in the eastern United States, her civil lawyer has said.

The revelations came during a civil court case in Los Angeles on Tuesday, held four days after the widow of grunge rocker Kurt Cobain was rushed to a New York hospital just hours after a warrant was issued for her arrest because she failed to turn up in court to face unrelated criminal charges.

6. Am I the only person....
Who just cant stand her....

I dont know what it is... I mean ever since Kurt Cobain was still alive... I hate her look, I hate her personality, I don't know, I guess I am pretty hard on celebrities.. (see also: Hilton sisters)....

Every time she opens her mouth I feel like she missed a perfect opportunity to shut the hell up....

40. We need to feel sorry for her
She is so messed up that she probably doesn't remember making a baby. Someone will have to play the security video back to find out who visited her before she got pregnant in order to find out who it was by.

12. This is the BEST news. It should have happened 3 years ago before all
her assistants looted her entire bankroll.

NO one was watching out for this woman because they all took her money.

Luckily the kid is out in the country on a farm and away from news and gossip.

Jesus, that's the understatement of the the millennium. My friend Marla used to do her manicures - Courtney was completely insane and out of control; worse, she was a lousy tipper.:(

Courtney was out of control - she used to scare the living heebeejeebees out of everyone working there.

And this was back in her "happier" days, before Kurt's suicide, etc. I can only imagine what she is like now.:scared:

15. You gotta feel bad for the Bean-ster. Dad's a suicide...
...Mom's locked up. Courtney's dad is himself a piece of work. I hope the girl's got some reasonable guardians someplace.

I guess I feel sorry for Courtney. I had the "pleasure" of interviewing her a couple times over the years and, while I'm no shrink, I did get a serious bi-polar vibe from her. Which means she needs real help. Obviously, the self-medication isn't working and it never has. I hope she gets it together for the sake of her kid. Given her track record, she should consider herself lucky to have another chance at getting well.

BTW, I'm a big Hole fan. Haven't heard her solo album, though. Is it any good?

16. some good people are looking out for the kid, they have pretty good
intentions and are kinda normal.

Strangely, there isn't really any family member willing to commit to a long term guardianship over this child other than Kurt's mom. An outside friend of the family may try to step in to take custody if Kurt's mom can't do it.

It breaks me heart to think of her, in fact. Fortunately, I know she has that awesome nanny who's been with her for her whole life. I just hope that there is some stability, even a sense of normalcy, in her life.

23. The nanny door was quite the revolving one. There hasn't been the same
one her whole life by any means.

I know of at least 5 of them. LUCKILY however, Courtney had the sense to HIRE people to take care of the child. For the most part they were ok, but their judgement erred badly when it came to permitting Courtney's access to her child. They were on payroll after all.

He was Frances's nanny when Kurt died. He seemed to sort of have it together. I probably have the name wrong.

At any rate, I can't imagine working for that nutcase - no wonder there was a revolving door.:eyes:

25. she's NUTS. She's not "bi-polar", she's mentally ill. The drugs just take
the pain away for a little while.

She's been nuts her whole life, even as a child. This wasn't something that happened overnight or because of drugs. She's MENTALLY ILL.

This shouldn't be that hard to understand.

30. Bi-polar disorder IS a mental illness. Sufferers

typically self-medicate with alcohol and/or other drugs. It is also a disorder with a genetic component so I was interested in what was said about her father. I hope she'll get a proper diagnosis and help while she's hospitalized.

33. "nuts" -- I don't really dig that blanket term --
I mean, I am just as guilty as the next person for using labels, but I really fight against that learned habit...

I firmly believe that there are a combination of factors that make us who we are: genetics - environment - experience...

21. I've always had a soft spot for Courtney. No reason, I just like her.
I wish her well and hope she regains her health and finds peace.

There's something about damaged people that the damaged person in me sees and empathizes. There are a few "celebs" I feel that way about and she's one of them. Dennis Rodman is another.

It's visceral and I can't explain it, but I have an urge to hug them if I ever get the chance. Actually, I did once--I met Anthony Kiedis (singer, Red Hot Chili Peppers) at a Lakers game. I asked if he would let me give him a hug and he said yes. So I did. :loveya:

It occurred to me much later that I had said that once, "If I ever get to meet Anthony or Flea, I want to hug them and tell them everything's going to be okay."

37. Ditto on the soft spot for CL
I too have always liked her...from waaaaay back in the good ole days of the early 90's when the music of that time period was my whole world. Courtney was such an inspiration to me as a teenage girl who loved music. I feel that she (along with a lot of the other kick-ass female musicians of that time) had a lot to do with shaping the woman I became, so she'll forever have a place in my heart.

She seems to be quite a strong, extraordinary woman, so hopefully, for her and Frances's sake, she can make it through this and find peace. Being someone who knows the terrible pain mental illness can bring into one's life, I have the utmost of sympathy for her and her loved ones. Lots of people seem to passionately hate the woman, but I wish only the best for her and her daughter.

Courtney is definitely someone I can picture still raising hell at age 90, so I have a feeling she's meant to be with us for quite a long time to come. Here's to a speedy and full recovery for Ms. Love...O8)

22. Why all the hate for Courtney? Is she

behind global warming? Did she cause people to lose their jobs or pension plans? Cause us to invade another country?

Survivors of people who commit suicide have a lot to deal with. You can't really understand this unless you are a suicide survivor but I'll try to explain. I lost a brother to suicide a few months after Kurt's suicide and it was seven years before I had a day where it didn't hit me in the gut a few times every single day. The pain will never go away entirely, it's a type of Post-traumatic Stress Syndrome. Imagine how much worse it must be when your husband, the father of your young child, kills himself.

You don't have to like Courtney's persona or music to hope that she gets better. Wish her well because she's a human being. Wish her well for her daughter's sake.

Please. :-)

27. I get your point
the biggest casualty of the story is her daughter -- I wonder if she will make it or just fall through the cracks--

It's a double whammy having a troubled story plus being thrust into the spotlight before she even has a chance to experience life...

Kids usually need and love their parents, no matter how messed up the parents may be. Courtney's the only parent Frances has.
