I'm sacrificing a private dorm for the laptop I want...
One semester. I think I can do this! It'll save me a grand. I think I'm being smart with my money. Thoughts?

1. Its worth it
Can't stress enough the absolute utility of a laptop. And a good one is worth its weight in gold. Congrats!

10. I've had five roommates in several years...
And the last one is the only one that ever stole from me. Misty, the Dorm Director told me that she'd run all my options past me before she settled on someone. She's great. And I'm actually excited.

3. ehh
I had my own room for three years in college and absolutely loved it. I could plan around my own schedule, stay up as late as wanted, get up as early as I wanted, without having to worry about someone else.

11. I have to pay my car insurance for 6 months and go on a sweatshirt...
buying spree for the fall/winter. And anything that is left over goes into the wedding fund.

12. Well, the Dell I want is $1458.
It's got everything I want. I'll either get that or some nondescript one at Comp USA...I'm shooting for the Dell though.

14. Good choice!
I would avoid Compaq, Packard Bell. Dell's the sh*t.

I dropped almost 1900 on mine, but it is a super computer, and I know since it's dell, it's not going to have any of the strange problems inherent to an HP, Toshiba, or any of the off-brand types or simplified Emachines.

I can't say enough about Dell, But I will warn you - the mouse pad will not work right for very long, plan on either getting a GOOD care plan or just get a wireless mouse since those pads are so annoying anyway.

7. I think its a good plan
You should try to avoid spending money you don't need to. Hopefully you will find a roommate you get along with. That is important too!

8. I mostly went to my room to sleep.
I had a few roomies from hell, but some of the stories I can tell today, twenty-five years later, were probably worth it...

9. I admire you making good financial joices at your age-----

Good luck!

13. Thanks...
But I'm 25, and I've been really dumb about money. If it weren't for my bf, I'd still be spending money like it were water. Thanks for the admiration, but I'm not worthy of it. Thanks for the luck wishes. :)
