Looking for opinionated people about Bushs mercury regulations |
|
I'm on a collegiate forensics team, and with all the damned research finally done, I was hoping that anyone in here with some background with his mercury regulations would state some facts, opinions, lines, BS (haha) or anything else you care to contribute.

Strange how Dubya was pushing so hard for the "Unborn Victims of Violence" act, but doesn't seem to care about unborn victims of mercury pollution.

4. you need to identify the form the Hg in the compound first. |
|
some Hg compounds are very toxic others less so. so what has to be tested is whether the more virulent or less form of the Hg is present in the compound.
this is normally identified by the oxidiation state of the Hg in the compound. it is this that drives the reactivity of the Hg as it impacts biological systems.
the same goes for arsenic and its various oxidiation states in different compounds.
gc/ms or lc/ms will tell you what you have.
