Any video gamers here? Doom3 is DONE!
THE WORLDWIDE DOOM 3 INVASION BEGINS THE WEEK OF AUGUST 2

Mesquite, TX - July 14, 2004 - See you in Hell! id SoftwareTM and Activision, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI) confirmed today that id Software's highly anticipated DOOM 3TM for the PC has entered manufacturing and will begin shipping to retail stores worldwide the week of August 2. A sci-fi horror masterpiece, DOOM 3's dramatic storyline, pulse-pounding action, incredible graphics, and ground-breaking technology combine to draw you into the most frightening and gripping first-person gaming experience ever created.

"DOOM 3 is done! And you're going to have it in your hands in a matter of days," said Todd Hollenshead, CEO, id Software. "DOOM 3 is a videogame experience unlike any before it. From the cinema quality visuals and the incredible 5.1 sound, to the terrifying atmosphere and hyper-realistic environments, the whole game screams 'interactive horror film!' Add in the most ferocious line up of demons Hell has ever brought to bear, and you have an experience so intense that you'll need to keep your heart medicine handy."

Built on id's revolutionary new 3D technology, DOOM 3 is a terrifying battle with the forces of Hell. In DOOM 3, your recent assignment to the Union Aerospace Corporation's Mars research facility seemed simple enough, until their discoveries and experiments unlocked the gates to Hell itself. Now, in an epic clash against pure evil you must fight to understand who is with you, who is against you, and what must be done to stop this nightmare from reaching earth. For more information, fans can visit www.doom3.com. DOOM 3 has been rated "M" for Mature by the ESRB.

A full ten years after the release of Doom2, its successor is finally here...probably one of the most anticipated games in recent history (for those that aren't familiar, the Doom games were basically the forerunners of every single multiplayer shootemup in existance...they spawned an entire industry).

Any other veteran space marines here?

i played doom and doom II, it was my first experience with an FPS that was atmospheric and kind of creepy. i am looking forward to this, though i am afraid of the hardware it might require to run nicely. this is a game i want to play with all the settings on high.

this is quite exciting news, hopefully it will live up to the hype.

edit: you got to hate it when someone accidentally opens the gates of hell.

3. You want to play this game on high settings?
Your gonna need a TOP of the line computer. I mean top of the line everything: new processor, new video card, fast memory, ect.

Hell, you're gonna need a real fast computer just to run it on normal or low settings!

10. assumming that's DDR ram you should do alright

Actually, I think your cutting it close with that processor. You might need over 2 gig (I know even though that chip performs like a 2 gig).

I'm about the same, but I still have an old video card. That's gonna be upgraded before the year's out.

5. ID SPISPOPD
I played the day the freeware preview was released. Although I doubt I'll get this version, as I doubt my hardware could handle it.

Fuck Joe Lieberman.

6. Can't wait.
I am in the process of building a new computer for my flight sims and the new round of FPS games coming out. I've had ever Id game since the original freeware Wolfenstein. And I played that on a 486 SX 20 mhz machine with I think 2 meg of RAM. That was my first computer. Previously I played games on my roommate's Commodore 64.
