Citicorp Mortgage - A Song of India
I have nothing against India or Indians. I do resent having a big mortgage about which I have questions and being put on hold only to get someone in Bombay as I did today who had such a thick accent I could have cut it with a knife. Will we have any US jobs left after * gets through with us?

2. Any jobs worth having?
We're becoming a McCountry. Everything's fast food and retail. Low wage shit.

These corporate ass holes have no concept of loyalty or devotion to their fellow Americans. IT was never overpriced, people in that field deserve every penny given the stress and constant re-learning the job requires. Then comes in the responsibility of maintaining data integrity and that's when I get livid.

I'm at the point where I no longer think bad things about hackers who try to ruin companies' computers. What they do isn't good, but given corporate america's attitude toward this country's infrastructure... :-(

3. You've got that right.
Fewer jobs, worse jobs, lower pay - need I go on?

I think things are going to be very difficult over the next few years. :(

4. I was going through a long list of things on an 800 number the
other day. It was apparent to me I was speaking to someone in India. At the end he asked if there was anything else he could help me with. I said, "Yes, how is the weather in Bangalore today?"
Dead silence.
I guess they are trained not to respond to that question.
So I said, it is pretty hot here in NYC. He said, yes, it was there too, but he was in Bombay, not Bangalore, and laughed.
He asked me how I knew. I said his accent was pretty good, but there are somethings that are hard to imitate... comfortable is one.

Anyone have any similar experience?

5. I read somewhere recently (can't remember where....)
that people working in call centers in India are encouraged to adopt western names, accents and learn all they can about pop culture.

So, for example, if I called one of these companies and reached someone in India, he/she might say "So how about the Cubs?"
