All hail the mighty power of BOO!
Edited on Thu Jul-15-04 08:49 AM by apnu
Tremble at the great humongous! His largeness himself, the awesome hero of Chicago -- master of the lazy hunter style of martial arts! Known by many names: Boozlebub, Booliel, Bomodeus, Boo "Thunder-clap" Johnson and C.K. Dexter Boo to his friends and can openers!

Boo, is a costumed protector of the Chicago night. He keeps the city safe from shoe laces that have gone bad, and is ever vigilant of roving gangs of condors that he snatches out of the air. (when he manages to heave his girth off the floor)

A witness, to one of his many good deeds, remarked as Boo leaped away from yet another vicious struggle with some Timberlake work boots: "He's like a seal in flight!"

Quake with terror at the coming of the Boo-Force!

(repost because I screwed up the first one, and its a fresh thread for the day crowd.)

6. Not as often as you think
He's been on a diet for 6 years now and we strictly control his portions. We try to keep him active but he's just not interested. Now that he's 10 and going a bit gray, its hard to keep him moving around.

8. His name came from his more slender days
He's very skittish and sudden movements will send him waddling from the room in terror. He has a deep hatred for vacuum cleaners and anything with a long pole. I think he was abused with a broom once and has never forgotten. I've had him since he was 2 years old.

10. He used to be a vegan actually....
We tried to get him to loose weight so we found a company in Seattle that makes vegan pet food. Cats, being stone cold carnivors, don't take well to that. After a year of him barely eating, and not loosing weight, we have him on food designed for "less active cats" I guess thats the PC term for "fat ass"

17. 2 diets that don't work for cats: non-meat-protein and aversion
The only way to help a cat lose weight--and yes, we have 2 cats with this problem--is to only feed them 1/3 of a cup of dry (or 1/4 of a 5.5oz can of wet) twice a day, and take away the bowl when they walk away. Our porkers are down to a healthy weight now, even if they are still huge.

23. hmmm... perhaps I'm doing his diet wrong then.
I give him 1/2 a cup of special "less active" food a day in strick 12 hour cycles.

I'll try a smaller portion and removing the bowl and see if that works.

25. Any animal has a fullness threshold.
Including humans, although it has been brainwashed out of us by McD's.

When the cat walks away, pick up the bowl, cover it, and put it in the fridge. Also, male cats do better with wet food for some reason, esp. with their urinary tracts; use those plaque-control treats for healthy teeth.

11. He says 'Rub my tummy while I knead the air, will ya?' We've been
feeding our cat Waltham Calorie Control (get it from the vet) and she has lost weight very slowly but surely over the past year. She, too, is disinclined to move but will bat the hell out of anything within her reach.

13. I'll have to give that a shot.
We feed him Science Diet for less active cats. That hasn't made a dent in his weight. We think he might have a kitty thyroid problem.

21. A thyroid problem would cause him to lose weight.
He'd be skin and bones if it was his thyroid.

24. yeah - we had tried the various less active foods and none really
made a difference. The Waltham seems to, without too much effort. She is one of those cats who would eat all the food if you free fed her and then throw it up later.

18. Yes, only through his benovelence...
does he allow us to live under the watchful eye of his green eyes. It is by his will alone that we are not all devoured at his slightest whim.

Boo is most displeased with our current "can-opener-in-chief" and feels that if we do not oust that simian then he will meter out terrible vengeance upon us.

19. Also, a cat should never lose more than 1lb per year.
Any faster than that can have serious health consequences, esp. for male cats (UT probs)
