Let's Bitch about the Emmy nominations!!!!!!!!!!
I can only assume Six Feet Under didn't air during the appropriate time and is no eligible, or it would have had several nominations.

Most of the nominees are predictable and boring. The Actress categories for Drama and Comedy are especially lame.

My only interest is if Angela Lansbury will FINALLY win an Emmy. She's nominated in the supporting category for miniseries or made for tv movie.

AND, since all three actresses from Sex and The City are nominated in the suporting comedy category, it looks like another Doris Roberts win, since they'll cancel each other out.

1. Angels in America
got the most nominations - can't argue with that. Best television I ever saw.

2. I take it the entire cast of "Everybody Loves Raymond" was nominated?

To say that this show and its cast comprise the "Best Comedy" is to give new meaning to the word "oxymoron".

...and I'll bet he's pissed.

I like the show, but it's past its heydey.

What show I really loathe is Sex and the City--talk about making one NOT want to go to NYC!

5. I was glad to see James Spader nominated.
I don't watch a lot of TV but he made watching 'The Practice' a delight.

32. James Spader is finally recognized!
I've been a fan of James since I first saw Sex, Lies and Video. He really hasn't had a lot of decent roles, but he is awesome in the practice. I'm glad to see him finally recognized for the wonderful actor he is.

I read somewhere that his character on the Practice will have a new series. Does anyone know anything about this?

The new show is called 'Fleet Street' which premieres this fall. Don't know if Shatner will be a featured regular but I'll be watching.

But the other two big name shows that have just ended, 'Friends' and 'Frasier', surprisingly didn't get nominated.

However, the stars did fare better as Kelsey Grammer and Matt LeBlanc are up for best comedy actor and Jennifer Aniston competes with Sarah Jessica Parker for best comedy actress.

33. Arrested Development
Arrested Development....I'm surprised and delighted to see it nominated. I watch very little TV, but Arrested Development brings me to the TV for at least 30 minutes a week....that is when the episodes are firt run.

13. do you think John Ritter will win a sympathy Emmy?
because to my way of thinking this was a sympathy nomination. He only appeared in three episodes prior to his death and let's face it as a long time Ritter fan--"8 Simple Rules" was pretty bad--yes, John elevated it, but not enough to make it a passable show.

23. I am all for honoring people....BUT
an "honorary" emmy is not the way to do it.. He should have gotten a special posthumous award for his body of work.. To have the others in the category finally )for some) get nominated, and then "lose" to a dead guy sympathy vote is not fair..

And to have the dead person nominated, puts undue pressure to vote for them to spare the grieving family embarrassment at the event..

Not that many "active tv stars" die during a season, so it should not be a big deal to accomplish..

A sympathy emmy is demeaning.

The entire cast of Deadwood, I think, is phenomenal. I'm happy that two are being recognized, but where the hell is Ian McShane's nod?

He is a huge part of that show and does his part exceptionally well.
