Poll question: Do you make your bed in the morning?
I make mine for one simple reason. My cats like to sleep on my pillow, so if I don't make the bed my pillow gets covered in cat hair. If I didn't have cats I probably wouldn't bother to make my bed.

1. Almost everyday, except when in a rush
my parents always made me do it and the habit has stuck.

4. Every Morning, all my life....
Can't stand a messy, smelly bedroom. I like my bedroom as if James Bond was going to drop in any minute for hot steamy love. The last person to get out of bed, makes the bed or we make it together. My hub and I, both love our bedroom to be special, clean and beautiful. That has been part of keeping a long-lasting marriage.

8. Smelly is one thing
Making or not making the bed does not create odor. But to each their own! :-) :grouphug:

I just like to clarify because there's a difference between being a little messy and being dirty. I like to be messy. Dirty, however, is just gross.

because James Bond might be dropping by? Or is HE James Bond? :)

7. I confess. I am a chronic bed maker.
I make my kids make their beds as well, so I am raising chronic bed makers.

12. LOL!
I don't think it will stick with my kids either.

Let me tell you, we bought our home 7 years ago and my boys still don't know where the hamper, garbage can or dishwasher is!

11. Bed? What bed?

I have a 2" thick futon on the floor that I sleep on.

But I only straighten the sheets and blankets if a building inspection is due that day, the exterminator is coming, I'm expecting a friend to come by, or they've gotten much too tangled for a tired, sleepy person to have to deal with.

15. None of the above
95% of the time, my bed is stripped bare except for the mattress and a fitted sheet. My bedroom generally gets so hot that I have to sleep au natural anyway.

If, somehow, it gets cold, I'll just slip on a fleece and wear some pants, dammit.

Oh yeah, and no pillow. I find I sleep better without one

16. To a certain extent, yes
I essentially just straighten out the comforter and maybe the sheet, but I don't tuck anything in, its just purely to give off the appearance that the bed has been made.

19. Generally, yes. Today? No.
If by "make the bed" you mean, "toss the sheets and comforter on the bed in an un-haphazard manner", that is.

20. I stopped when I moved in with my dad in high school
I had an abusive evil stepfather who I lived with when he married my mom when I was 11 until I was 16. He was always very particuliar about neatness. When my dad finally got custody of me, I stopped making my bed. It wasn't even a conscious decision. It just happened that way. I haven't made my bed in the morning since.

21. Every Single Day!!! -- Why? Because I Love Sliding Into Smooth Flat Sheets
instead of trying to crawl into bed like I was getting into a sleeping bag that's all twisted up.

It's just a thing I have. I'm strange, I know. You don't have to tell me.

22. Make a bed?? Are you kidding???
My bed has a fitted sheet. My bed has about 6 pillows. My bed has two blankets. I have my own blanket and my hubby has his. We never fight for covers. I haven't made my bed since I moved out of my mother's home. And even then I didn't make it that often. Mostly I just tossed the comforter up towards the pillow region.

25. Other: I make mine in the afternoon
I work second shift and don't go in until like 4 or so. I usually hang out in bed and watch TV for most of the morning and then start to get ready for work!!

But I leave the house before he even wakes up. He's pretty good at making it though (by guy standards).

31. Yes, I do
Edited on Thu Jul-15-04 05:34 PM by mvd
I don't think it looks nice when it's unmade. I used to not care, but making the bed is not hard to do, and making it can also keep the sheets from getting disheveled.

32. If you call 20 seconds of straightening 'making the bed', then yes.
If I keep my house orderly, it is easier for me to keep my mind orderly.
