Woman Faces Charges in Pig-As-Bait Case
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - A woman who offered to use her 5-month-old pig as bait to lure a tiger that escaped from the home of an actor who once played Tarzan will be cited for animal cruelty, officials said.

Linda Meredith, of Loxahatchee, put the pig in the trunk of her car and drove to the neighborhood where officials were searching for the tiger shortly after she heard of its escape.

Meredith asked officers to grab the hind legs of the pig, named Baby, or twist its ears so it would squeal and attract the tiger. The officers declined her offer.

1. I think she was thinking
that she could help capture an escaped tiger. Sounds like a good cause to me.

2. Exactly - but she should have used Katherine Harris instead ...
she'd have squealed louder, I bet.

3. She's only being cited for transporting the animal in her trunk
And rightfully so. I don't have a problem with using one animal to bait another...that's what they do in nature, after all. Just because we find it distasteful doesn't make it cruel.

4. I'm just struck by how bizarre her thinking seems.
Toss a pig in the trunk, invite officers to "twist its ears" (um, ow) to get it to squeal...."here's mah pig..."

Just odd. Very odd.

5. Would you offer your DOG for this?
No? Then you shouldn't do it to a pig. Research has shown that they are as intelligent, if not more so, as dogs. I no longer eat either.:wtf:

7. Are there any sane people left in Florida?
This was a good idea on the womens part to keep a Tiger from harming other people and they fucking charge her?!?:wtf: I guess it would be better in Jeb's Florida if she had used a non-Cuban person of color to lure the Tiger out it would've been better with law enforcement officials.

8. There's ethical issues on either side of this...
She could use the pig to keep the tiger from hurting someone, or...
She could look at that as animal abuse and not use the pig.
BUT...
Here's a woman with a pig trying to catch a tiger. That's weird in my book.
