Weezer: Cheesey 90's power pop or underrated musical treasure?
Edited on Thu Jul-15-04 10:35 PM by ALago1
They are one of my favorite bands because Rivers Cuomo really knows how to write a melody counterbalanced with heavy guitar sounds and rhythm arrangements.

Blue album and Pinkerton were both classics in their own unique way.

Green album was fairly good but Maladroit was pretty mediocre. I'm hoping for a big comeback with their fifth.

What do you think?

9. You may be right about them not being underrated...
I know a lot of people who listen to them, but i've felt that they've never gotten major props after their first album and were typecast as a one hit wonder.

6. I like most of their stuff...
but some of the bridges of the songs are really stupid, and nearly ruin them for me.

7. Pinkerton is a sublime album...
Edited on Thu Jul-15-04 10:41 PM by gmoney
...really genius, stem to stern, especially if you know the "back story" and all. The Good Life is one of my all-time favorite songs. And El Scorcho? Wow...

Blue album is a great collection of songs, the two newer ones have their moments, but Pinkerton is just unbeatable.

10. Not treasures...
but not shit either. They are an interesting band, with some decent songs, but I think some people make them out to be geniuses, when frankly they aren't. Don't get me wrong, I like the music itself, but I just don't see that much of a difference between them and other bands. I think part of it is that several of my friends listen to Weezer, and only Weezer. They get pissed off when I complain about it, so I think some of that has slanted me

Of course, what are the chances that someone would worship both the Byrds AND Weezer?

I'd say miniscule, personally!:loveya:

Real lightweight, and not at all original or interesting to my ears. But they do have some catchy songs.

26. I think they answer is "yes"
They're a pop band, but a damn good pop band.

Also, what's wrong with maladroit? I liked it better than green.
