if stranded for 48 hours, what one thing could you NOT do without?
Edited on Fri Jul-16-04 09:12 AM by Bertha Venation
You are stranded somewhere far from contact with other humans, but you know they're on their way to rescue you. You have adequate clothing, shelter, food, and water. You're unharmed and are safe from wild animals. Your family and pets are perfectly safe and not worried about you.

What is the one thing without which you could not survive this brief isolation?

5. I can't think of anything that I couldn't go 48 hours without.
Especially if there was already adequate food and water.

I could do 48 hours on my head if I had to.

8. assuming there is air I can think of nothing required
Edited on Fri Jul-16-04 09:16 AM by seventhson
depending on the weather (if it were really bad) a book would be nice.

Primo Levy would make me feel like I was better off and should be grateful.

Also a place to lie down and a decent pillow would rock!

15. Someplace to go to the bathroom
My tiny bladder can't make it past a couple of hours - let alone 48. But I don't ask much. I've made good use of trees, tall grass and other natural places before. But I pity the unfortunates stuck with me in an elevator for 48 hours.

16. Anyone who has a problem living like that...
for two days has real problems.

A notebook, tape recorder, camera, etc. would be nice to record what I found exploring the area in those two days. But not absolutely necessary.

Toilet paper would be nice, too.

17. Indoor Plumbing number one...
And a really thick book and a radio.
I have to shower, or I get really gross, sticky, and unhappy. But other than that I think I'd be ok. I'd probably be ok without the indoor plumbing if I could safely swim in the ocean.

22. I CAN SEE BY THE RESPONSES THAT I WASN'T CLEAR ENOUGH
What one COMFORT ITEM could you not do with out? GOPisEvil and a few others took my meaning, but I wasn't clear enough for everyone.

So what would it be?

a book or magazines?

tunes -- ipod, cd player, mp3 player?

a musical instrument?

a journal or camera or other recording device?

I fear the thread is dead, though. Alas.
