3. Traditionally, yes.
I've never heard of one for boys but why the hell not. Particularly if it's your only child and you have heirlooms to pass on.

9. I Had A Hope Chest... It Was My Dad's Toolbox!

Still have it. Lots of his tools were shoddy stuff I tossed, but a few were good quality and I've added to them...

I LOVE the antique stuff! A magnificent oak and brass folding measure, several well used wooden handled screwdrivers, a brass L square, etc.

My favorite item, however, is his old "pinging block" (I use it now as a doorstop) and also the ballpeen hammers.

Anyone can have a hope chest. Just don't call them that.
