Poll question: Ikea: pronounced "ih-kay-uh" or "eye-key-uh?" |
|
I grew up overseas, including a stint in Stockholm, where I visited my very first Ikea. In Switzerland, my entire apartment was furnished by the Swedish discount king. It has always bothered me that most Americans say "eye-key-uh"--as do the Australians, I believe. It reminds me of people who say "Eye-rack" and "Eye-ran" for Iraq and Iran.
Or... am I just being a snob?
