So what do you guys plan to do today
As for me I plan to watch the Mets game in a few minutes and occasionally check up on DU. It's kind of a shame because it is beautiful today and it is supposed to rain tomorrow, but I don't care I'm watching the game anyway.

So what are your plans?

2. Went out to yard sales this morning.
We got a great bat house for only $2 (great science project for the kids). We have a ton of mosquitos around here, and I'm hoping that we can maybe get some natural pest control going.

Now I have to clean house, especially my daughter's room. I guess it's payback for my messy room when I was young!

4. Just gotta do one Massage
Edited on Sat Jul-17-04 12:18 PM by floridaguy
Other than that, I'll probably spend a lot of today doing this. Later, I might check into my favorite English pub and have a game of darts or two. Maybe attend a moveon party.

Oh yeah. I'll have to watch the replay of Lance kicking ass today.

so I'm sitting on the deck with the laptop and a Coke. The laptop provides the music as well. It's a beautiful day and I'm accomplishing stuff.

9. Putting finishing touches to a model of a 90-Day Gunboat
that is going into the Gray and Blue ( Battlefield ) Naval museum in Vicksburg Mississippi.
Its nearly done !

its in 1/8th scale, scratch built plank on frame, Supposed to be USS CAYUGA

What's left to do

adjusting haliard for fore course,
alignment of stack guys
replacing davit guys with chain,
new deadeyes for the main topmanst stays,
rattling the shrouds for the main mast,
adjusting the bridge,
mounting 4 24 pounder cannon
final adjustments for the coppering of the hull
and mounting the long port for the center pivot rifle. ( starbard side )

I plan to deliver in August, also bringing a 1/8 scratch buit model of the tow boat MV/SORA ( lower Mississippi R. towboat )

also.... preparing the drawings for a 1"60 scale model of another 90 Day Gunboat.
1 inch = :5 & 1/3rd feet or approx 1:60th scale.

among other things I do - I like to scratch build models of various watercraft.

11. Interesting
I bet that takes some talent to do that as well as some ingenuity. I wish I had a hobby like that. My only hobby is hanging out here on DU.

17. thanks.
I don't think this is talant as much as a form of compulsion....

its just that I always felt scale model water craft were aesthically beautiful...and the only way I could ever afford to have one is to learn to build them myself.

If you REALLY wanted to do this, you could - and probably do better work than me.

But it is one of the ways I channel creative energy.

I also play mandolin.... poorly.

There is the ending stanza
of a John Maysfield poem regarding commercial sailing ship, ( the 3 and 4 masted barques )

" For you could walk the pier a hunderd times
and hear St Michaels ringing out the chimes
and never see these proud ones swaying home
with mainyards backed and bows a cream of foam...

"They mark our progress as a race of men,
the earth will not see such ships as these again."

If I had 10 lifetimes, I would perfect the art of scale model shipwrightry
- for its own sake.
but one needs to make a living too. and now off to the workshop !!

10. I'm going to go pick up a stove for my new house
God, I've got to get everything for the house. It was a bank repo and the previuos owners didn't leave a thing in the way of appliances except for a dishwasher that doesn't work. And I don't have any furniture as I've been living with my folks for the past couple of years. So I have to get a living room set, an entertainment center, all kitchen appliances, a washer and dryer, a bedroom set, and computer desk. So much for paying my credit card off every month now. I think I'm going to have a balance on there for a while to come.

16. Can't edit post but I actually have something to do today
My friend just called and asked if I wanted to see a play, of course I accepted. So a bunch of us are going to see Much Ado About Nothing in the park. I actually get to enjoy the nice day, which is good because the Mets are losing now.

19. My husband drug me
away from DU long enough to take a ride to a town about 50 miles northwest for a BBQ lunch. Wanted to hang around for the fiddler's contest, but we had taken the dog with us and it was getting pretty hot for him outside, so we came on home.
