Well, my interest in Trey Parker & Matt Stone's "Team America" just faded

a bit. I'll still go and see it, but I'm disappointed in Trey's quote at the bottom. And yes, I know they hit both sides. I'm in the middle of taping off South Park episodes right now, and I've seen and loved every of their non-SP films. Just count me as being disappointed, not outraged, ok? Bush better be as put upon as "Hollywood liberals" or it won't be a balanced satire.

snip........

And there are dozens, if not hundreds, of different heads required to bring this cast to life. First of all, there are the members of Team America itself. Chris, Sarah, Lisa, Joe, and Spottiswoode are the long-standing members of the team, and Gary Johnston is a new recruit, a rising Broadway star who helps them with an undercover assignment. Then there’s the film’s main bad guy, Kim Jong Il, the “power-mad dictator” who may be selling Weapons of Mass Destruction to terrorists.

The most remarkable head sculpts belong to the other bad guys in the film. “Actually,” said Trey, “they’re not bad. They’re just really really stupid and misguided.” They’re an organization of Hollywood liberals who are determined to stop Team America from interfering in the affairs of international politics. Alec Baldwin, Susan Sarandon, Sean Penn, and a permanently mustard-stained Michael Moore are just a few of the celebrities who are going to feel well and truly roasted when they see this film. Even seeing the heads without the film’s puppeteers bringing them to life, they are frighteningly accurate and bitingly funny.

MM eating/fat jibe. There's plenty of other ways to satirize Moore's work. I don't know why so many comedians have to take that short cut.

4. Agree completely....it's the lazy path
I thought Trey and Matt were better than to go for the "heh-heh, he's a big ol' tub of lard" route. I guess not

5. I've been meaning to ask this for a while
but are Trey and Matt Repugs? I swear I read that somewhere...but don't recall seeing anything else but anecdotal evidence.

6. I think the most we've ever established is that they're Libertarian
or non-political. They hit both sides all the time, so I'm fine with them hitting the Left as hard as the Right, but jokes about Moore eating is juuuuust so original at this point.

7. I know
they are very equal opportunity offenders. Part of why I love South Park - nothing is beyond making fun of. And I say, they can make fun of MM for eating. There have certainly been enough jokes about OxyRush and his weight over the years, so I say it's fine.

8. Oh, it's fine

I mean I never called for a boycott or anything, did I? I even said I'd probably still see it.

I'm just a little disappointed and less interested is all.

ON EDIT: I'd originally heard that the film was going to make fun of Homeland Security, so I hope it's a balanced satire. It's no fun to watch a strictly Right/Left comedy.

10. I'm just trying to be careful too ;-)
We've had some nasty South Park threads about their politics before, so I was even hesitant to bring up the subject in the first place.
