Dubious technology: Google aims to dominate AIM. |
|
Picasa, which was recently bought by Google, has released "Hello." Hello is an instant messaging program with a twist. Instead of chat rooms, it offers instant on the fly photo sharing, with no hassling with firewalls or "direct connections". Though it may have adverse consequences, not adding a chat room feature may have been a smart move.
Chat rooms are already filled with the sort of people you may not want your kids talking to. It is in my opinion that, while there will be a significantly smaller user base, Picasa made the right choice by not having chat rooms.
You can check out the Hello program at www.hello.com

AIM is vile, spyware-ridden garbage, put out by a company that puts out horrid software dominated by a profits-first mindset.
The only AOL software really worth a damn is Netscape and Winamp, and they had to buy the companies that created them in order to claim them as their own.
