My aunt and uncle brought me back martini glasses from their trip to Florida today. I decided that they looked lonely on sitting on the shelf and wanted to try them out. So I made myself a delicious vodka martini, and this one was so good, I might make myself another!

1. Score!! I'm thinking of making a more traditional one now |
|
meaning, with gin. But I've had some lovely vodka martinis, and am not such a purist that I feel I must automatically hate the vodka martini.
What kind of vodka do you use? How much vermouth? Olive or twist?

2. I'm using Three Olive vodka |

with a dash of vermouth and a twist...I can't stand gin, it makes me sick but I am a vodka purist. I love the taste of it so I don't like much else taking away from it's flavor

4. I must try that one some time |

Been seeing it for a long time, and have been often intrigued.
I've found that, oddly enough, the vodka I like best for a martini is Svedka, a cheap and otherwise not terribly interesting vodka, but makes a nice martini.
but I know little of vodka, since I don't drink it very often. More of the gin kind of guy, and I generally drink cocktails, which really need to be made with gin and not vodka.
Your martini sounds like it should be good! Dash of vermouth is just right, and I like a twist as well.

5. I highly recommend Three Olives |
|
I like it better than Grey Goose. It's very smooth with no aftertaste, it goes down much too quickly :9
