1. Terrible quiz.
It assumes that if you're well-informed enough to know who Dale Earnhardt was, you're a rock-ribbed conservative. Amazingly enough, I know who "Dirty Dale" was and I know what the LIRR is! I drive to the store (i.e. I don't live in Manhattan or San Francisco) and I know what Whole Foods is!

This is a divisive poll that tries to posit that to be liberal, you must be a wealthy, city-dwelling elitist. I don't buy it.

just because I know who Jim Caviezel is doesn't mean I'm a repug- it just means I watch the news and know about movies.

but, on edit: I am a city dwelling elitist! Just not wealthy! ;)

3. The destruction of populism
You're right. If conservatives get to define liberalism and Democrats this way, then they win.

7. Exactly. If we let them continue to frame the debate
then they will win. I was talking about the abortion debate with a friend and how we took for granted in the '80s that these people were just a bunch of RW loonies. Now these RW loonies have a buddy in the WHITE HOUSE, and judges all over the country that think the way they do.

9. I'm red because I'm informed?...................
that I know who Dale Earnhardt was? That I would never own Annie Hall?

Damn, that quiz couldn't be more wrong.

11. Yeah, exactly
Or because I know what the UP is, and could give a damn where things are in New York City.

4. I'm in the middle...
Apparently, the midwest is very Red, even though they don't always vote that way -- most of my "red" answers were simply for knowing the geography of Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa and Michigan, and for not knowing much about New York.

I live in Wisconsin, as blue as they come, but hell if I know the trains in New York.

16. Thank you, now I know i'm in the middle
Stupid quiz - just because I know who Dr. Laura, what the UP is, and which are the Quad Cities are does not mean I'm a red-stater.

19. Thanks.
I am in the middle, a little more blue than red. But I had to guess at some of them. I don't know what Door County or the Quad cities are so I don't know if my guess made me more Democrat or Republican. LOL. My fiance is a racing fan so I know some about NASCAR, plus they show racing a lot more than they used to years ago. Its not like its an exclusive Southern sport anymore. I do prefer beef with horseradish. I am assuming this is a Democratic trait? But I also like barbecue sauce on chicken and pork though so I don't know....I know about the LIRR and Ave. Q because I grew up in NY. Is a Democrat from Iowa or CA supposed to know this? And does knowing what the Big 12 are make you more Democrat or Republican? Who came up with this test? I agree its stupid. :eyes:

10. not interesting at all
The test somehow didn't quite fit on my screen. I tricked my way to the end of the questions and pressed SUBMIT, but all I could get after that is "You are in the middle."

I was guessing at nearly all the questions and am a very good multiple choice taker. I haven't seen any of the movies or TV shows the questionnaire references. I can shoot a rifle and spent decades walking for groceries.

12. This quiz sucks. It says I'm in the middle leaning towards red.
I'm not a yuppie. So sue me. It doesn't mean I'm not a die-hard liberal.

15. It's fun, but odd - put me right in the middle
I can only assume that being in the middle means high ability to remember things and know what the hell is happening in the world, even with stuff you don't care about (like, I know Earnhardt was No. 3 because, hell, how could you miss it? And I don't watch TV or car racing at all). So I know who some other people are, and some geography - I grew up in frickin' Wisconsin, a very progressive state btw. Of course I think of Michigan when I think UP.

AND I've shot a gun, since I wouldn't own them unless I can use 'em, you know? Sheesh.

Weird quiz.

17. Ok
that was a stupid quiz, So since I was born and raised southern and eat BBQ with BBQ sauce, I am republican. Since my grandfather and my dad and me are all registered democrats and like John Wayne movies I am a republican. Since I know who owns Sam's Club and live close to a Super Wal-Mart that makes me a republican. Since I like Country Music and Know who sings what I am a republican. I hate people who try to put stereotypes on people. Just like since I am in a wheelchair I am a democrat. I actually had someone say that to me.

I'm "It's time to get out of the sun. You're looking a little red."

Edit: The only way I knew who wrote the Book of Revelations was because of that song "John the Revelator".

Just because I live within thirty miles of Super MegaloMart doesn't mean I shop there!

Maybe I should register on Free Republic and vote for Bush!

the best I got was right in the middle.

So I'm penalized for where I live on this quiz? Also I watch very little TV and am not up on a lot of mainstream pop references.

What a weird quiz.
