Does anyone have any information or direction for me in searching out an apartment for a short term lease? All my search results thus far have been for vacation properties at exorbitant tourist prices. I'm looking to search for a place in Belize for the winter...

1. I was in Placencia three years ago

I stayed at a place called Roberts Grove which was not at all cheap, but they may have some deal for extended stays. Placencia is at the southern tip of the country and very, very poor and isolated. The little town has some hotels that may also offer extended deals. If you're on a tight budget be prepared to go w/o a/c, hot water (except that warmed by the sun). Roberts Grove has a web site (at least they used to) and may be of help in locating something for you. If you've never been to Belize be prepared to be dazzled by the natural beauty and the diversity of the population. Unfortunately, the rain forest there shows signs of pollution as does the beaches and that makes it very sad.
