Trouble with my cable modem today. It was horrible. |
|
From noon until about 6 o'clock today I couldn't get online. No DU, no Email, no blogs...
All I had was TV, radio, CDs, records, newspapers, magazines and books to divert me!
It was like living in the Twentieth FREAKING Century! :scared:

1. You need a back-up dial-up to use when the cable is down. |

5. They said there were no outages |

This happened once before and they ended up replacing the modem. I hope everything continues to work okay until the cable guy comes out on Tuesday.

New kind does not help. The newest one that is what people think is the "HOT" new modem is Ambit. I don't like them.

Time Warner claimed it was better than the old Motorola modem they replaced. They wouldn't lie to me, would they?

I hate those modems, Go with Toshiba. It is not as finicky about the signal strength. I have had mine for four years and it has only dropped off twice and that was due to cable being knocked out completely.

7. did you do the unplug and reset? |
|
unplug the power cord and ethernet cable, wait about five minutes, then plug the power cord in. Once you get the green lights, click the Ethernet cable in. That should signal the server to release a new IP address for you.
Another possibility is that the coaxial cable is loose somewhere. Check the back of the modem first.
Always check the physical layer first.

Satisfied Time Warner's RSR that they needed to send a guy out AND credit my account until he shows up.
