Can you believe Isaac Hayes is a Scientologist? |
|
I always heard rumors, but on the South Park season 4 DVD commentary, Matt and Trey mention how Isaac Hayes enjoyed the episode where all the kids were on ritalin and he tried to make them stop because Scientology is against psychology and using drugs to treat mental problems.
I mean, regardless of your views on Scientology (I happen to be in the "money stealing cult" group) it's pretty odd to picture the guy who gave us The Theme From Shaft doing those silly tests with soup cans to see how many space gremlins are invading his chi or whatever.

that is weird. I just found out that my dentist is a scientologist. He has a basket of literature in the waiting room. I tried to imagine a Catholic dentist leaving religious literature in the waitng room. Does that happen?

I read religious books (even the eeeeeeeevil Koran) and the only one that gave me a headache was Dianetics.

5. Yep...$cientology's weird by defin ition |
|
But Isaac Hayes is a supercool person -- very, very, very nice man. Very spiritual, too, and it's a pity that he got into that sham as an expression of his spirituality.
Also, Shaft is one of the coolest things ever recorded by anybody.

7. I've been thinking about Scientology lately |
|
True, the beliefs are totally wacky, but it's hard to see what makes them worse than other groups.
1) They're money grubbing.
Yes, but so are the tithing Christians.
2) They've killed people because their beliefs muddled up medical situations.
Well, they happens in Christian offshoot religions from time to time also. No blood transfusions, faith healing, etc.
3) They make people work for the organization for nothing.
Well, so do many religious organizations.
4) They're involved in nefarious activities.
Well, ignored child molestation is about as nefarious as it gets.
How are they different than other religions?

Tithing is one thing, Scientolgy requires people to pay lots of money to advance in the church.
They also require their believers to cut off all ties to non believers, even their own family.
There's actually an extensive list over on xenu.net on how Scientology meets all the requirements for a cult, but they were able to strongarm the IRS (!) to get tax exemption so now they're a "legit" religion.

these people write? i don`t think ol`e lrh is the son of god or even a prophet..he was a hack science fiction writer who founded a cult..a cult which costs you 100`s of thousands of dollars to achieve "perfection"- all "god" religions across the planet don`t charge a dime to achieve "perfection",now do they?
