Shots of the Arizona sunset outside my house (gorgeous scenery)
Edited on Sun Jul-18-04 10:52 PM by noahmijo
From the vato who brought you the lightning shots, since I got a nice response for those, I thought I'd share with all the shots I just took about an hour ago outside my home in Oro Valley, Arizona.

(Request to view the lightning shots and I'll repost them if anyone missed them and wants to see them)

4. I know isn't it crazy?
Out here in Az we have what we call "Monsoon Season" where we get pretty much our entire rainfall during the months of July and August.

With incredible thunderstorms we also get these amazing sunsets.

And I used Photoshop to alter the brightness and contrast and that's it, everything else was totally natural.

14. I think they do but
They're all pre-shrunk so an XL will be more like a large.

16. LoL thanks but honestly I may have hit my peak
I just started really futzing around and getting to learn this camera (I am not a pro photographer by any means I just seem to be in the right place at the right time) but I'm really having fun showing everyone sights that they probably don't get to see where they live.

Hopefully when I finish school and have some more time I'll take a trip to the desert museum or visit Sabino canyon or maybe even if the storms continue get even wilder lightning shots or different sunset views.

Thanks for the kind words though, are you a native Az'er? if you are and you know Tucson just name a place you miss and I'll try to make you my way around the area in the future and report back with shots of what the area or place looks like now.

18. HA!! Wow that's the greatest compliment so far!
Edited on Sun Jul-18-04 11:23 PM by noahmijo
Unfortunately I'm nothing but a bum college senior (graduating Dec 04 though!) I just started experimenting with this camera recently learning about photography just for fun and relaxation ya know? and well I just happen to be in the right place at the right time, and honestly Arizona offers bountiful photo ops.

I did send the lightning pics to my local news affiliates though because they typically print up home photos of storm activity ect.

Thanks again though for the compliment, I wish I had stuff in a gallery though would give me a reason to go back to NYC!

I imagine you get the same sort of sunsets and stuff we do.

Well I'm definitely looking into making this a hobby of sorts, time is sort of tight to really get serious and spend days just going around looking for shots, but from now on where I go I always will have the cam with me.

Hello from your western neighbor :hi:

33. Wow! Stunning! We get some great sunsets this time of year
but those are jaw dropping! Do you mind if I send those to some friends?

Oh, we also get some amazing sunrises in the winter here. This is what it looks like almost every morning up here in the mountains, around December:

35. Whoa that's sweet too
It's incredible how the pallete that the clouds take on during sunrises and sunsets. Where are you? Just a wild guess are you in North or South Dakota?

Naw go ahead take em, I took them for viewing pleasure not for profit :)

Wow are those trees?? I forgot what trees look like out here in Az!

38. I'm up in the "cool pine" section of AZ.
North Dakota - lol. Nope, that was taken in AZ too (should have made that clearer I guess :-) ). I'll give you some hints: north of Phx, south of Flag, and it's not Payson ;-). I lived in Sedona for a short time and always found myself coming over here on the weekends (to get away from tourists) so I ended up moving here.

Thanks! I just sent them to all my zonie friends.

39. Well I took a wild guess because of your "SiouxJ" name
I know nothing of "The Dakota" it was just a wild and failed attempt at looking smart, but I have succeeded in buffooning myself.

Therefore to punish myself I'm getting Eegee's today :)
