|
In other words, do you smoke?

I can attest to that as well. I quit 13 years ago and I still have dreams about smoking. My sister had a friend who gave up both tobacco and heroine in his life, and he swore quitting heroine was the easiest of the two.

9. A carton is like $50 dollars in New Jersey |
|
I was shopping at the Burlington Mall past Saturday and I asked the lady in Strawbridge about whether they had sales tax on Jewelry (I had to pick up a last minute item and I was heading to visit my friend who lives in NJ).
The lady commented that yes, there was sales tax and the we got to joking about NJ vs. DE. Her comment was that she would drive to Delaware to buy smokes because the cigerettes are so much cheaper in our state than in New Jersey ($50 vs. $30). I guess they make a weekly road trip and pick up a bunch of cartons of ciggies for her and her friends.
I heard that and all I could think is "Why don't you just quit and then you'd save a ton of money all together"

13. Can you believe we used to buy them for 5.00 / carton? |
|
As soon as my tin can steamed past the 12 mile limit the SKs would sell cartons as " Sea Stores" from the storage compartments. Limit 2 per person - 5.00 each !
They were fifty cents a pack ashore.
I will experiment with leaves and grasses before I would spend that much on cigerettes.... as a kid, grapevine was not that bad.

12. I'm somewhere between "never smoked" and "I did but I quit" |
|
I did smoke a little, late in high school/early in college -- but I didn't smoke a lot. Maybe two packs a week at the absolute height of it. I haven't had a cigarette in a decade or so.
I indirectly support Cheap Tobacco. My husband buys these generic "Kentucky's Best" or worse, "Roger" (imported from somewhere or other, perhaps with a U.S. parent, perhaps not). I don't know if these are subsidiaries of Big Tobacco, or little companies, or something else altogether. The packages often don't say. (He also buys Gitanes (sp?) on occasion, so I'm supporting French Tobacco, too.)
