12. They have sucked for a long time.

The original series had some wonder and a sense of discovery. But the last three series seem to keep recycling plots. They lack creativity. How many times have they gotten out of a situation by "rerouting power to ___________________ and generating a ______________ pulse" (Fill in the blanks with some particle physics mumbo jumbo)
They change the names of the planets and the aliens and occasionally they toss in some time travel or inter-dimensional travel but it blows just the same.

3. As a Trek fan myself...

I think that the real kick in the pants they need is to just stop with the shows and movies for a while.

They should take a few years off, come up with some original ideas, and then come back stronger. I'm getting so sick of the same old, same old again and again.

4. I agree.

Taking some time off, then coming up with ST:TNG reinvigorated the whole franchise. The last 2 movies and the Enterprise series have, IMHO, been utter crap.

5. Enterprise is so boring !

I watched the first season and a part of the second one,waiting for something interesting to happen.On one episode the main story was all about the dog being sick! Wow ! What a plot !

Or don't you remember how Porthos knew the invisible alien was in the captain's room, but Archer was too stupid to figure it out.

You have to admit that you have not often seen a Star Trek plotline where diplomacy hinged on a dog's relieving himself on the sacred tree of whatever. I thought it was hilarious.

This is what they do...or add another female cast member. It's a move of desperation, not inspiration. And as they've done it in times of trouble past, it just goes to show how uncreative the show-runners are.

11. How about getting better writers?

I watched TOS when it first ran, second ran, third, fourth, 100th. I loved ST:TNG and DS9 had some amazing scripts and I was hooked on it. One of my all time favorite movies is First Contact. I even consider myself a trekkie......BUT....Voyager and Enterprise have been the biggest YAWNers of all time mostly because the writing is crap. Think of DS9's Inner Light. Imagine if Enterprise has a script like that one!

14. Losing Battle

The concept of going backwards was doomed to failure. No matter the Xindi concept, or anything else they do, we already know that the dominant culture in the alpha quadrant is the Federation, by the 24th Century. So, there is no way to build drama or tension, since we already know they're always going to come out on top in the end.

Sort of why i didn't like Apollo 13. Geez, i was 15 when that happened. I KNEW they got back ok. No amount of script massaging could have made me feel the tension.
