Would you tell a friend if they had BO and/or dog breath? |
|
If the answer is "yes", how would you go about telling them?

1. I'd hope someone would tell me....... |
|
I mean I would like to know if I stank or had dog breath....instead of walking around, talking to god knows how many people.
How would I tell someone? Well I'd do it privately, not in front of people. And just tell them. If they get offended, they get offended. Chances are it'll die down quickly.

I would take out some sugar free gum and offer a piece before I had one.
But you're talking about halitosis, right? Constant bad breath? Kinda touchy, depends on your relationship with the person.
BO? I would leave soap or deodorant for the person, anonymously. I guess you could do the same for bad breath, some Scope or something. Maybe a tongue scraper too.
That's a very awkward position, people don't like to feel embarrassed about personal things. It can really ruin a friendship, people feel judged and inferior, although you mean the best.
Good luck!

3. I would tell them that just for kicks. |
|
Especially if he or she had just come back from a date.

you are really worried about offending and losing the friendship you might consider sending them soap or mouthwash in the mail anonymously. That way they get the hint and you do not get dropped. Just a thought, I would be chicken to tell someone this although I would want them to tell me.

6. YES!!!! I told my best pal hairdresser, and he rushed to the dentist, he |
|
had a receded pocket that was getting infected, it stunk really bad. So the dentist put him on the Sonicare toothbrush, cleared it all up immediately.
One tells friends of odor, zippers, tags, labels, lint, dog hair, hair bumps and bad breath, ALWAYS.

7. I never would, but I would hope someone would tell me... |
|
...So a contradiction, yeah? That's a tough one. I guess my hesitation is that, as far as I know, some body odors (mouth, sweat, "special places" etc.) are genetic, whereas some are due to hygeine or diet or poor brushing habits (in the case of the mouth). So you could tell somene to clean him/herself up by conventional means, but what if that's not enough? What if he/she just smells in an unfortunate direction? Hence my hesitation in mentioning this.
I often try to remember that if we were in the 15th century, say, we'd all smell pretty bad.

10. I once had a boss who's breath would gag a maggot. |
|
Filthy repuke of a boss, at that.
At the annual Christmas party we exchanged gifts, etc. I put an anonymous toothbrush & toothpaste under the tree for him. He must've taken the hint, after that I could be in the same general vicinity while he spoke.

11. I'd have my 4-year-old son do it for me. |
|
He's so good at it. Typical morning: "Daddy, first thing... before you do anything else... you HAVE to brush your teeth." Then, "Mommy, you stink!"

12. I used to work with a couple of people who smelled like they |
|
were carrying something dead around in their mouth. They were OK folks but I figured that if their loved ones or others closer to them than I was didn't say anything about it why should I.

Just ask them if they're ok, because you've noticed they've been stinking lately. My friends would laugh and then take care of it. That's how it is with us. And if it were a breath thing, we'd get to gether and buy a basket full of toothpaste, brushes, listerine, and gum and mint varieties. Duckie
