6. How can you say that after last night?????
First - I live in the St. Louis area and am a diehard Cardinals fan. Having said that WHAT WAS UP WITH THAT CRAZY PITCHER OF YOURS???.

Hitting Edmonds TWICE??? Tsk, tsk....Cards are gonna go all the way this year!! :):headbang:

8. Zambrano will be Zambrano.
Anyway I'm sure the first time it was an accident. The second time, well, that was unfortunate.

It's too bad, because apart from, you know, beaning Edmonds, he was having a great game.

Sadly, I have come to accept that the Cards will probably win the divsion. But do not underestimate the power of the WILD CARD! MOohoohahaha!!!

I can dream,

15. I can buy the first time was an accident...
and Edwards handled it very well. Apparently Zambrano takes offense to having home runs hit off of his pitching.

They were saying last night that they thought he would be suspended for a couple of games because of it - do you think they will do that?

16. I would think if they determine it was intentional, they should suspend hi
m. I mean for crying out loud you can't have pitchers going around plunking people just because they're pissed off.

When they suspend pitchers, how do they 'count' the suspension? I mean if a pitcher is suspended for 5 days, does he miss one start, or 5 starts?

24. I yearn for the old days of 'Chin Music' and pitching inside.
If you didn't know that Edmunds was gonna get hit the second time, then you probably don't follow the game closely enough.

I would have hit him too. And don't think that Edmunds wasn't expecting it.

I love baseball. It's my favorite sport. But I wish it was played like it was in the 50's and 60's. The 'glory' years.

If the umps would call balls and strikes like they're supposed to, there'd be less need to move guys off of the plate. But since the pitchers are at a disadvantage in today's game, they do radical things. And that's not good for anyone. Not the players and certainly not the fans.

10. Since starting the year 15-6, the Red Sox are...
35-35.

That's right. For nearly two and a half months, the Red Sox have been playing .500 baseball.

I've just about given up... and we're still in the lead for the AL wildcard. Go figure.

11. Injuries + Dusty's Gut Feelings = Mediocrity
I know my beloved Cubbies have been hit with the injury bug this year. Hopefully, since everyone is back and healthy (except Hollandsworth) the Cubs can catch fire and win a few.

But I really think that Dusty and Rothschild have mishandled the pitching staff. Last night, Barrett set up about a foot outside the plate to Rentaria and Zambrana threw is about 3 feet inside and Barrett was charged with a Passed Ball. Shortly thereafter, things fell apart.

They should have at least went out and talked to Zambrano. If my starting pitcher was missing his target by 6 feet in the 8th inning, I'd yank him in a second. But not Dusty. Nope. He went with his 'gut' I guess.

23. Strange how both "it" pitchers of last post season...
...are both struggling both with performance and with injury.

Prior and Beckett have both been on the DL, and have both been disappointing. I think it's the first year both of them have thrown extensively in the big leagues and playoffs, and they're paying the price for that.

I feel as though I am waiting for the other shoe to drop. Certainly, the Cardinals can't keep pitching like this, can they? I mean, I hope they do, and I think they can, but I'm on pins and needles when they're playing...

Then you add the defense and it's adding up to a fantastic year for the Cardinals. As long as everyone stays healthy we are in for a banner year :)

20. Yeah, that is my main concern now that they are back from break
I was worried that they would come back from the break and slump, but that isn't happening:) Now I'm going to worry the rest of the season about injuries:scared:

If we get through with no significant injuries, I think the Cards will go all the way this year.

25. If the Cub pitchers
could face the Cub batters, there would be unbreakable strike out records set. The Cub offense is offensive. Swinging at the first pitch, Wavin' Wendell sending a guy who can just barely move, continuously leaving runners on base with 0 or one out, not to mention strikeout after strikeout after strikeout...well you get the idea. Looks like the team that couldn't miss is going to.
