1. Cocaine was hillarious |
|
I cracked up and so did most of the theater. A great way of saying something without having to come out and say it.

3. The only problem with Neil Young at the end |
|
was that it wasn't NEARLY LOUD ENOUGH!
It should have blasted me out of my seat. Great use of music were the two Who songs in "Summer of Sam". Now those blasted me out of my seat. Ahhhhhh

"We won't get fooled again" at the end?
Or was that just my imagination? If I wasn't imagining it, that's my favorite one. And if I was imagining it, clearly that's what I thought would be the best music for the ending, so I still nominate it. :D

11. One was Teenage Wasteland |
|
I can't remember what the other was. I have to see it again. A tough film, but I remember my ears bleeding when those songs came on, and everything else just kinda stopped.
Magnolia and Boogie nights also used rock music well. P.T. Anderson is amazing.

6. Poor speakers in the theater, perhaps? |
|
It was BOOMING at the show I went to.
Felt like stomping around in my aisle just like Neil on stage. :)

But I prefer "I'd Love to Change the World" as used in the trailer. Really wish it had been in the film.

I wonder where the song would have best been used in the movie.
Maybe right after the African-American Reps. gave their speeches to the Senate. Have to see it again to decide.

7. Rocking in the Free World" was a disappointment |
|
after knowing of and being somewhat irked about the stupid controversy over Townsend's unwillingness to allow Moore to use "Won't Get Fooled Again." I really wanted to hear that.
Funnily enough, my son took his usual command of the radio for the ride home. He stumbled on a classic rock station when he usually goes for "Alt Rock" and the first song on that station pulling out of the theatre parking lot was. . ."Won't Get Fooled Again." Sometimes the soundtrack has an ironic way of working out to absolute perfection.

9. Greatest American Hero |
|
It seemed to get the biggest pop from the crowd, even those that didn't recognize what it was from. The lyrics worked perfectly in that respect. Especially, "Sudden I'm up on top of the world, should have been somebody else!"

16. I thought that's what the song was, but I wasn't sure. |
|
It's been a long, long time since I've heard that song (or seen that silly show). I was puzzled by the song, then somehow "Greatest American Hero" popped into my head, and I was thinking, "no way." That was pretty funny.

12. Playing that snippet of "Cocaine" was sheer genius. |
|
But I also really dug the usage of R.E.M.'s "Shiny Happy People". R.E.M. is probably the most under-appreciated band in the world, not to mention good Democrats who have written some of the best political rock songs of the past twenty years.
