I am getting SO sick of banners and scrolls on my TV
Can't I watch a Freeping show without some sort of channel ID or scroll of "news" at the bottom?

I can't watch what I'm watching any more because the outside ads and "news" is freeping up my screen.

How long before they start doing this at theaters and on DVDs?

1. Me too
Some add sound as well. Maybe we need to start getting some signatures on petitions and sending them into the stations letting them know we are fed up. I think some day whatever we are watching will take up 20% of the screen and the rest will be advertising B.S. I really think it will happen if we don't do something about it now.

Thanks for bringing this up. It feels good to get it off my chest.

3. There's been mentions of petitions before

I know it's a small thing in the scheme of all, but I do good political work for serious subjects, so I'm entitled to complain about my entertainment.

Then again, it's another encroachment on our time by the corporations, so it can be seen as being serious.

I know a lot of people put down TV, but there's a lot of good stuff on. The Daily Show is just one example. Hell, even the pay channels are starting to do it.

I wonder if the anti-tv-people would understand that it's like watching a play with people running around in the background with ad boards.

2. I've been writing them for months
complaining about using up my screen space for their damn ads. No effect, so far.

4. It's another reason why I don't watch much TV
Just Comedy Central and baseball games on ESPN :)
