Titans Release RB Eddie George
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=577&e=2&u=/nm/20040721/sp_nm/nfl_george_dc

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Sports Network) - The Tennessee Titans have released Eddie George just two days after the star running back rejected a contract proposal and requested a trade.

George is Tennessee's all-time leading rusher with 10,009 yards. The 1995 Heisman Trophy winner was under contract through the 2006 season and was due to earn $4.25 million this season. The team asked George in February to rework his contract and paid him a $1 million roster bonus in March.

George has said that Philadelphia, Tampa Bay and Dallas are potential options and that he looks to move forward in a new situation where he can win a Super Bowl...

1. He no longer has breakaway speed they say.
He had no gains larger than 25 yards last year.

I'd take him over Bettis any day.

2. He's done.
He's one of the few Titans I liked. The Tits fucked his career giving him the ball 99% of the time and not giving him a fullback. If he had a fullback to take the first hits intended for him, I have no doubt he'd still be a damn good RB.

Ray Ray clocked him then Casey dropped him on his ass. He hasn't been the same since Ray Ray knocked his ass out though.
Remember how good Okoye was after Atwater knocked his ass back five yards? I still take Bettis if I have a choice.

no class....loudmouth piece of garbage....ray lewis should be happy he isn't doing time and watching from a cell block somewhere, and for the NFL to raise him to hero status just makes it all the worse...last year when the titans knocked them out of the playoffs was more than a victory for tennesee, it was a reflection on lewis's attitude...talk trash from your sofa ray lewis, you didn't do it for the AFC finals.....

4. the titans have developed their pass game......
over the last two seasons, McNair remembered he was a hell of a QB, and Fisher learned he had great receivers. sadly, George could have been more effective with a decent blocking back, but the Titans air game has just been to successful the past few seasons.....

good luck Eddie, you were a hell of an Oiler and Titan...i have no doubt he will be picked up quick and make an impact for whomever he plays for. George is a class player too...very good to the fans and very accessible.

5. Eddie George is a class act.
It's too bad that he wasn't able to play for an offensive coordinator that understood the importance of protecting the running back. His talent was wasted on a shitty coaching staff.

6. BIG mistake
EG might not be the ultra quick running back like he was back at Ohio State--and being a Michigan fan he's the only Buckeye I'd even compliment like that.

He'll look real good in an Eagles uniform--isn't he from the Philly area anyway? Redskins don't need him...maybe the Raiders? They know his skills all too well these past few seasons!

8. An Eagles/Michigan fan, huh?
Maybe the Cowboys will pick him up, so he can run your ass into the ground yet again!

9. why do older players think thier salaries shuold continue to rise
as their production falls off?

he still has gas in the tank, but no doubt he's taken a pounding and it shows. he can still help someone, but the titans gotta think of their future...
