Hello, DU!

I have been heavily lurking for about four months. You have injected relief and camaraderie into my life without knowing it, and I thank you. (I am the only liberal in a huge family of RW GOP types.)

Some of the nastier flame wars (I'm thinking of a word that rhymes with itch, LOL) scared me from registering for awhile, but there's so much more to this place, and I am really going to need your help to work on my family! My mom is beyond hope, but I have a father and some siblings who could be brought to the light of reason -- but I'm not a confrontational type, so I'll need some guidance (more on that later).

For now, I just wanted to say :hi: and show off my bright shiny new star! :D

Longfellow (tiresome old pretender) met with a Philadelphian essayist/critic named Agnes Repplier (born 1856 - she deserves more fame than she now has), and Longfellow quipped:

And Agnes Repplier - razor wit - replied:
