Louis Armstrong is amazing
A true icon of jazz, and by all accounts, a helluva guy.

3. Oh come on
We're talking about how great Armstrong is and you quote that worthless piece of shit song, probably the worst he ever recorded?

How about "Black and Blue" or "On the Sunny Side of the Street."

4. Yes, I agree.

Louis is an icon of American music. If you haven't listened to Hot Fives and Sevens, you know nothing about jazz and the master of it.

5. Oh, didn't he ramble?
Hey, Pops. We'll never forget you down here and look forward to hearing you up there.

And I *like* What A Wonderful World. What kind of bad natured person is offended by that?

It's not Jazz. It's pop. So what. It's a great song.

6. the master upon whose shoulders all popular music rests . . .
and quite the character as well . . . of the many stories about Pops, perhaps my favorite is the time he was touring Europe and had occasion to dine with royalty (Swedish, I believe) . . . during the course of the dinner discussion, he started elaborating on the benefits of "Swiss Kriss," which he took every day, and took the opportunity to pass out packets to all of the guests . . . now Swiss Kriss was a powerful laxative -- Armstrong's mother had drilled into him the benefits of purging the sysem each day, and he did so throughout his life . . . but the notion of passing out laxatives to royalty always cracked me up . . . another daily habit was toking up, which really makes him my kinda guy . . . :)

as for music, just listen to the intro to "West End Blues" . . . that's all you need to know . . .
