Legendary Film Composer dies at 75 in LA
Terrible loss, Jerry Goldsmith, created the scores to so many memorable films, Planet of The Apes, Chinatown, Star Trek, Poltergeist, so many others! I collect his soundtracks, 1 have about 105.

Award - Winning Composer Goldsmith Dies

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Academy Award-winning composer Jerry Goldsmith, who created the memorable music for scores of classic movies and television shows ranging from the ``Star Trek'' and ``Planet of the Apes'' series to ``The Man from U.N.C.L.E.'' and ``Dr. Kildare,'' has died. He was 75.

Goldsmith died in his sleep Wednesday night at his Beverly Hills home after a long battle with cancer, said Lois Carruth, his personal assistant.

1. I have the "Star Wars" soundtrack
and yes the music for "Planet of the Apes" was very good too. At least his music was real, and not that fill in junk.

5. Star Wars is by John Williams
another giant of film muisc who's also in his 70s. Williams just released his TWENTIETH!! Spielberg score: The Terminal.

Goldsmith's last score was the Looney Toones movie.

2. For Planet of the Apes alone he's in the pantheon
and I just listened to Explorers the other day and had a flashback to my youth. Chinatown is fantastic too. The guy was great.
