8. It's got to be faster than what I've got. I live in a hick town
just below the Bible Belt in America's crotch that has Alltel for its telephone service. The phone service is poor and its Internet service (only local access) is even worse. I'm cruising at 18 bps at the moment.

Enjoy your new service. Must be nice living in the real world.

3. You'll love it and, pretty soon...
...when something slows your system down and you don't get the speed that you will have come to expect, you'll be very impatient--having forgotten your dial-up days, entirely.

Well, that's how I am, anyway.

5. The only problem I've had
is that my RAM can't keep up when loading web pages. If you have less than 512M of RAM, it doesn't translate as excellently as it would. I use Memturbo and it helps some, but there is a drag at times when memory runs low.

As far as downloading, though, speed is good. :)

7. You'll never go back to dial-up again!
Hell, it's even faster than the broadband cable I once had.

9. Mostly likely. It's not T1 but it's good enough.
I've had DSL 3 different times. The first time was all through Qwest and was very good. The 2nd time Qwest stopped being ISP and I had a Qwest connection but a 3rd party ISP. It was HORRIBLE. Only a tiny bit better than dialup. Then, Qwest started being the ISP again and it's back to very good.

Chances are you'll be please with the difference.

10. Oh, shut up.
I'm so jealous. I can't get DSL, don't have cable, and can't afford satellite. So I guess it will be dial up for me forever.

Sob.......

(what I GET for living in the rural countryside...)

16. I've go an 65 foot tower about 70 feet from the house.
My dentist decided to get into the wireles internet business up here in Central Maine. I bartered the tower siting (highest point in the county) for free connection. He's been slow on gaining subscriptions, though. He has a T-1 FO line that he shoots from his business downtown and relays the signal from my tower on line of site. So I pretty much have no bandwidth problems. We have 4 PC users in the house and I see pretty much no slowdown on bandthwidth.

23. Hey-soos! Just tested at 3311 kbps download speed
beyond "very fast."

After 4 years with this DSL (Earthlink), if I were forced to go back to dialup I'd wind up in the bin.

25. Please tell me you don't use IE..
Safari, Firefox, Camino, Opera, OmniWeb, Mozilla all kick IE's ass speed wise. And if you use OS 9 Mozilla 1.2.1 is the best browser with iCab a close second. Enjoy.
