How do you cope with hate mail?

I am really impressed by the Admin's ability to deal with hate mail. So much in fact, that they actually show off some of most extreme hateful comments of them all. If I ever got hate mail, I would be devastated. I'm just curious, how does everyone else deal with the hate mail they get?

It makes me laugh! It is sooooo funny to read the remarks of people who think they are being so smart but can't spell simple words or complete a simple thought!

I laugh at it because I think it is hilarious!

3. I get plenty

With a website called Beat Bush, I expect it. When I can tell in the subject line it's hate mail, I either just delete it or hit the "report spam" button. If I can't tell from the subject line, I read it, then simply delete it. Like water off a duck's back!

Just try not to let it in. There will always be idiots in the world, and there's a likelihood you'll run into some.

4. I used to get it all the time in the town I come from.

95% Republican religiofascist suburb on the north side of Houston. I deserved it though - I had the audacity to write LTTEs and send them to the local rag. People would call me to yell at me! I should have recorded those when I had the chance - some of the messages I was left could have been taken right off of FR.

I've heard of 9/11 widows and moms getting it when they spoke out against the war, and that really makes me ill. The jerks still have the nerve to use the old "Have you forgotten about 9/11?" line on THEM. Unbelievable.

It's interesting that you can divide the responses into "I'm gonna sic the FBI on you", veiled threats of "you're messing with the wrong innocent victim", to just "fuckyoufuckyoufuckyouIhateyou" crap.

Irrationality is at the core of it. These are the same people who beat up "filthy ragheads" at Baghdad prisons, lynch people for their skin color, incite spanish inquisitions and burn non-Christians, and crucify young men on fences for no other reason than that they are gay. They are cowards who shoot abortion doctors through their kitchen windows and support websites with "hit lists" of other doctors. They claim that the idea of government helping people get through unintentional misfortune is communist and evil, until a tornado blows away their trailer park, and then they are the first ones in line for a handout from the government.

They are every bit as evil, stupid, and dangerous as they would like for you to believe, and although it's fun to mock them, it is also wise to be cautious.

after I've posted on some sites...:D

I enjoy it, it shows me that I struck a nerve, and that makes me happy.

The only "bad" thing I had happen, was someone who actually threatened to stab me. Turns out this guy was in town here, and didn't like a letter I had written to the editor of the local paper. He googled my real name and came up w/a hit, and sent me this diatribe about how un-American I was.

For a few days I thought about this, and finally figured he was full of crap, as he could have looked in the phone book and found me, waited in the bushes to jump out and "stab me w/ a 9" knife I have for just such occasions"...:eyes:

I would have called the cops on him, but actually figured if he was going to stab me, I could just shoot him in the femur w/my .45 and let the cops deal w/it then...:evilgrin:

Of course, nothing came of it, (at least not yet), and it has been a year. We shall see what the future holds...:)
